I'd turn it around.

I am happy to put up with drivng round in another car for 3 months (all be it of lesser spec) on the understanding that we are waiting for a potential fix for the car.

IF that fix does not work, I will be looking to you to reimburse me for the value of the car when I bought it, or at the very least what it is worth today, not the value in 3 months time.

Go in to the dealer EVERY day and ask them "how are YOU going to sort this out? I need a fully functioning car and the 3 you've provided me so far have each had completely different faults. I am willing to give you another opportunity to rectify this issue whereas I would like to swap to a 528i of the same spec (expect to pay difference if applicable) and would like to try that. If that encounters any fault however, I would like a full refund of the car as I can no longer rely on the car to work, and especially as I have been so largely inconvenienced by this whole incident"

My dad did this, and timed it perfectly for maximum customers and after 2 days they caved in and agreed to swap the car.

But get the above statement in writing, with a signature declaring that.

won't work though will it.

after three months they will just say wait another 6 months for the next software update etc etc.

you need to be much more forceful from day 1.

Trouble with all this argy-bargy with the garage is that you've got a life to live and (presumably) a job to do. I had a longrunning problem with a brand new S-Type once that I ended up just chopping in at 8 months old (for an E-class, as it happens) because I just couldn't face the hassle of forever chasing the dealer for a resolution. I could probably have got a better solution if I was prepared to do all this 'making a scene in the dealers' business, but in the end I decided I was better off just getting rid of it and starting again. I've got better things to do with my time than spend hours pestering a dealership, and you probably have, too.

And of course I have never set foot in a Jag dealer again - and so why in earth you would even consider another BMW after all this hassle is beyond me!

My car hasn't gone into storage as promised and looks like this atm

I've gotten the ball rolling in terms of rejection and lodged a complaint to BMW UK.

Yikes. Now I'd be making a serious fuss in the dealership until the dealer principle agreed a way forward. I'd be doing it every day in front of customers.

Fair point, but I feel like a bit of a knob having complained so much!
They say they've got no other cars in at the moment so this'll have to do.

I'm not to impressed by the Germanic build quality at the moment!
Then just reject the car and go get a Honda then, I've never heard of three cars been given to one customer and them all breaking down.

I doubt it even happened in the good old days of BL.

You must me very very unlucky......

I don't really have the time to go in and keep arguing with the dealers if I'm completely honest. I also don't want to have a bad relationship with my dealer seeing as so far they have been very helpful and organised courtesy cars for me in a reasonably quick time.

Yeah you got me, I've got nothing better to do with my life than make up problems that I'm having with BMWs.

Turns out the guy who drives the Z4 (staff cars are loaned out to customers) drove into the bollards at the dealership on the forecourt causing the pedestrian impact warning system to come up.

My car is still broken and they have no idea what's wrong with it bar BMW telling the dealers that the software may *possibly* rectify the fault.

So what do you want?

They promised a 'High spec' loaner..... You got a boggo 520 Touring.
They told you they would keep your car underground........ It's in a service yard covered in scensoredt
They say they will 'Deal' on a new 528......... No update on that in your posts.
They have given you a 3 month lead on a repair that may or may not work & you seem happy to suck it up because you don't want a 'Bad relationship'

Frankly the service you are getting in this supposed 'Good?' relationship would have me spitting tacks.

IMO you need to make time to visit, phone, email the dealer as much as possible. In fact I would do everything by email now to have a total trail of all that is said & offered, if they telephone you in reply to,an email ask them to confirm the outcome of the phone call in an email & make sure they do. If they don't, email them outlining how you understood the conversation & insist they acknowledge your interpretation as correct.

I don't know if anyone has asked you if this car is financed but if it is, even a deposit on credit card, iwould suggest involving them to,secure a conclusion

Okay, well, you certainly have put that into perspective. I guess I'm trying to say it seems like they've been nice to me during the sales process which has left a good impression on me.

I have made a visit today and done what you have said in terms of making a trail of all communication and conversations. Got in touch with BMWUK today and started the process of rejection. Yes the vehicle is on a PCP agreement.

Manning up smile

I'm dealing directly with BMWUK now so I just have to wait to hear back from them in regards to my case and go from there.

I appreciate all the help and advice I've been given so far and I agree I have been a bit of a pushover so far. paperbag

Small update to my problem, the dealer say they've managed to fix the problem with the car finally, all they had to do was get BMW Germany to code the car over the internet instead of making me wait 2 months for a fix.

In other news, my courtesy car (520d Automatic) also came down with a case of Drivetrain fault today whilst trying to park.
