You could also get it with the GTR bodykit!

But like he said not a sleeper, but nor are many sporty V8 estates in my opinion
I dont like the GTR but I do look the GTR's front end on that

What about an EVO 9 estate, if it hasnt been mentioned already

another vote for the Saab 9-5. tho the 2.0lpt can be taken further on the tuning front that the Aero model

as standard its putting out 150bhp. but a cheap plug in remap will take that up 70 odd bhp.

we're getting an easy 450/500miles per 67litre of 95ron on the daily commute (stop start traffic on the M60)
and saw nearly 670miles out of a tank when cruising across France and Belgium with the cruise control set at 79mph. thats on the standard power.

Some impressive stats, there, m'lud.

Liking the idea of 230 nags in one of these - always had a soft spot for Saabs since the days of the 99 turbo... wink

'On a run' for me may be different to you as well - nearest motorway is 2hrs away so not much of that, probably more like UK A and B roads - one lane each way with plenty of hills and corners. Average cruising speeds perhaps a bit lower than your motorway speeds though at 60-75mph (NZ plod are rather singleminded when it comes to speed) but with plenty of faster overtaking. 60-65mph cruise would probably see the 33+mpg, 75mph more like 30mpg. On B-road blasts it can still drink as quickly as anything else with 280bhp though!

It depends which Legacy you're seeing figures for on google too, the gen2 is a bit thirstier than my gen3 and the gen1 guzzles fuel like its going out of fashion.

That explain things any better?
For information, my gen2 GT-B averages about 25mpg on a 20 mile mixed dual carriageway / urban commute every day. On the motorway it'll reach 30mpg if you're driving like a nun. Cruising down to Geneva at 90mph+ most of the way (and a few interesting twisty bits in the hills when we got there) clocked up an average of 23mpg.

Whaddabout a remapped V70 D5? Awesome on fuel, not exactly slow, safe and reliable.

I would have also of reccomended a V70R, but they are greedy little bds at the best of time. smile
How about a V50 T5 instead?
Not so good on fuel? No idea what the AWD system is like on the S40/V50 either.
our work V70 D5 AWD is shockingly bad handling... ok its a big car and i didnt expect it to 'handle' but the steering is very light, it rolls like a barge and generally has no sporting traits whatsoever. I cant see why you would plump for the AWD over FWD, i tried ours in the snow at the start of the year and it slid just as much as the next car...

that said its pretty damn quick in a straight line, MPG isnt great though, ours averages 34mpg.

I cannot stress the satisfaction of 'doing' a cheeky gobste in a 968 Porsche whilst carrying a set of bedroom drawers (was moving house!) in the rather large boot.
As a 968-driving cheeky gobste who happens to be in the market for a 300 bhp estate sleeper, I am amused by this comment.

How bizzare Jim just reading this thread not realising you were the op and you leave me a message when Dicky C posted earlier laugh nice to know you thought of me and mine...on `that` hoon i was down to 14...as a guide my average mpg including a mix of motorway/town/heavy size 11ing is 18...she has seen 30 on a long run...saying that she offers 0-60 4.8 and a potential 170mph so not too bad for an old Audi wink plus shes in budget.
Not only did Jim think my reply was from you, Al, he thought it was a sales pitch!

As if rofl

Oh, yes, and you missed 0-30 in 1.5 !!! Nothing reaches the other side of the lights first. Or so I understand whistle
