Nice write up RoverP6B!
Thanks! It's a great car, and for the first time I've got something that really lives up to my wonderful, rusty, turd-brown British Leyland era Rover. I know, I know. That was still a brilliant car, and none of its replacements have quite cut it until now. The 520i drivetrain is just lovely but it's got too much weight to contend with, and it feels like the engine is just getting into its stride when the rev limiter cuts in. I bet it would go to 8000rpm with a bit of fiddling. Not sure if the internals are up to it though. I'd love the opportunity to throw some money at it and turn it into the angriest, most fire-breathing 2.2 litre BMW on the road, but for now I've got a choice of reasonably zingy six and manual or the grunty but gormless V8 and auto. I'd like to add to this an E38 750i and an E39 M5, and a Jaguar X308 XJ8 4.0, and an X305 XJ12, and an Alfa Romeo 166 3.0, and and and... my dreams rather exceed my space and my money! Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun, taking a bit of pride in my cars (as filthy and scratched as they are) and all on peanuts...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
