What’s the panel’s opinion on Firestone brand? I’ve just had some Allclimates on the Captur run-around and very pleased
Firestone wouldn't be a budget brand like some of the ditchfinders. Don't know anything specific but their worst tyres should be nothing like some of the Chinese rubbish that's out there. Teddy Lop said:

According to ASDA Tyres:
Accelera manufacture low cost tyres which perform best in dry conditions.
is there a tyre that doesn't?Accelera manufacture low cost tyres which perform best in dry conditions.
But not budgets.
Remember.
20 meter longer stopping distance.
That will cause a huge crash.
I had a pair of cheap budgets fitted to the front of my Astravan (£110 for 215/45 R17), I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were, having them replaced this week as the tread is almost at the minimum depth marker after approx 20k miles!
Have ordered a pair of Dunlop Sportmaxx (to match the rears) online from National Tyres to be fitted at the local depot, fully fitted for just over £159
Will be interesting to see how many miles I get from the new tyres

Uniroyal rainsport are well priced and very appropriate for uk climate.
They also disintegrate at the edges and wear out in no time..
Driving style and/or heavy car maybe?

I've fitted Firestone's to cars for years and also been very happy, intact wife has them on her car right now. They are branded rather than budget so different league and price to alot of what's being discussed here.
Never tried them on a performance car but been good in all weathers on standard motors
