[rant] have just had the pleasure of watching a pissed kicking the wing mirrors off a row of cars, mine included.
his equally charming slapper girlfriend had presumably told him he was a dick and not getting any later, so he lost the plot. booting shop fronts obviously didn't do it for him so the cars got it.
local plod have changed their number(yet again! don't they like people telling them about crimes?)
finally stopped a big white van, hi-viz stickers, blue lights on top.
british transport police are fking useless too mad
least they told me the local plod's number. called them, gave them a description, told them where they were.
how long should i wait before i give up on a response? 1hr? 10mins? less?
so completely fking ragingly mad. very tempted to jump in the car and go find the prick

Have had similar thing happen to me, when i woke up and discovered someone had booted my indicator light out it's socket. I actually felt like I would have preferred if they had just nicked the whole car, at least that would have made sense. This kind of senseless, pointless, causing grief and irritation to so many people is just so very annoying and can understand your rage.

Clearly a tosser, too much booze plus foul mood = idiotic behaviour.

Wee?

So you saw some bloke kicking the st out of your neighbours cars, and quite possibly yours?, and instead of going out and lumping him or at the very least confronting him you posted about it on an Internet forum?

They'll be someone along in a minute to tell you to grow some balls. Not me though.

I hope that nasty boy get told off by the nice police. smile

Well done.

This happened about 6 months ago in our street, students pissed up, kicking wing mirrors off cars, putting road signs and cones on the roof, snappping off aerials etc.

I woke up, threw some clothes on and jumped in the car and gave chase. Luckily I'd picked up my mobile when I'd picked up the car keys. Phoned the police, who responded very quickly, with a patrol car meeting me where I'd intercepted the miscreanats.

Surprisingly they admitted it, spent a night in the cells, then paid for all the damage to all the cars!

Our plod were very quick in getting to me, perhaps to prevent things escalating, but there were 6 cops there inside of 3 minutes.

Well just to (hopefully) restore the OP's faith, a couple of weeks ago I was at home when some oil put a window through in a car parked near my house - not my car, nor of any if my neighbours.

I got a grip of the lad, who decided to punch me in the head a couple of times. Police were called and a couple if other MoP helped me hang on to him (but weren't prepared to give statements). Police arrived and he got arrested.

I didn't use any of my police "powers", I was just acting as any citizen would/should/could do.

And crime in progress = 999.

Or 112, if you're feeling European.

I'd assume that if you called the police and reported the crime, their response may not be immediate dependent on how stretched they are at the time.

However if you explained you were going to deal with them yourself I think they'd be there pretty damn quick.

My wife had her back window smashed while the car was parked on our drive and her bag nicked. She rang me as she knew I wasn't far away and told me which way they'd gone. When she explained to the police that her hubbie was following them, there were 3-4 cars there within just a few minutes.

Maybe the OP didn't want to risk a physical confrontation that could have resulted in injury or prosecution?

Bless him, it's not really his fault, he didn't get much love as a child, daddy was probably mean to him sometimes too, so society's not treated him well or provided him with the tools to deal with the huge psychological burden of social responsibility and now his shag-rugs gone on strike too.

The lad needs help.

Does nobody keep an air-rifle handy these days?

The discrete use of one, from well inside an upstairs room with a window open just a couple of inches, can be very effective and virtually silent.

Not that I'd condone the use of one. No sir, not me, definitely no way.

Personally if I saw this happening and I didn't do anything I'd be pretty annoyed at myself for being such a gutless tt.
FFS, just because there have been some reports in the media about what may happen if you stick up for yourself you never hear about the 1000,s of times nothing happens, "MAN, 41, CONFRONTS HOODIES BREAKING INTO CAR DETAINS ONE PUNCHES ANOTHER. THE END"

If more people make a stand then maybe these "thugs" (= more than one kid) wouldn't walk around disrespecting people. Anyway, you earn respect it's not an automatic badge you get after 25yo.

yes I would have done the same.

A few years ago I live in a flat on the main stagger home for a lot of chavs on a Saturday night. Heard a commotion outside the front one night and witnessed some piece of st taking a piss on the door handles of my wife's car. I wanted to run down and tear the little turd's head off but I am unfortunately not Powerfully Built, so just stood there, ground my teeth, got up the next morning and washed the car thoroughly. Maybe I should have grown a pair, but I couldn't see anything positive coming from it. Maybe I get in a punch which he doesn't feel because he's pissed, then him and his mates round the corner come and have a pop at me. Plus they know where I live and which car is mine...

Having said that, the only language the OP's tt would understand would be several car owning residents coming out of their houses and giving him a good kicking!

Your problem is you don't know how to get the best out the modern police force:

phone "Hello, is that the police? I'd like to report a man vandalising cars in the street. He's also muttering light-hearted remarks about people of Romany origin whilst carrying what appears to be a toy water pistol and an entirely innocent photo of his niece taken at her recent sports day."

In two minutes flat Mr nazi racist, heavily armed paedo fiddler will be lying on the floor with half a dozen 9mm slugs in him. smile
