Dont suppose anyone knows a scrappy in the Milton Keynes area that will pick up my expired golf for a few notes and dispose of it?

It expired in a pretty spectacular fashion on sunday afternoon, and will never again move under it's own power. So after towing it home it really needs to be shifted sharpish.

Oh and if anyone is shifting a (running and MoTed) CHEAP car at the moment, pretty please let me know!

There is an escort L reg on the Stoke Goldington to Handslope road for £275. Didn't appear to have any rust, but I only saw it in passing.

Scrappys will not usually collect it for less than £40. The place in New Bradwell will give you £20 for a runner, or £10 for a tow in (at least a few years ago they did).

Whats wrong with it.

Try your local paper or free ads rag - down my way there are several licenced scrappys that'll gladly stump up £25 for the right to remove your non-runner.

What car is it? Sierra's, old BMWs, Metros etc are good doner cars for kit-cars.

Cheers guys,

Its a dead MK2 golf. Bit of a shed that suffered a series of failures within 500 metres on Sunday.

Temperature went off the scale, to the point where coolant boiled, most fuses blown, minor fire, oil cap blew off and threw all the oil over the engine....

Mate of mine is selling a fiesta, so heading over to look at it tonight.

Any idea what the place in New Bradwell is called? That would be pretty convenient :P

The Head gasket blew on my g/f's mk 2 Golf. I sold it on eBay a week later for 200 notes. Guy came with a trailer and took it away. Only paid 500 for it the year before. Suited us, 12months motoring for 300. Golf's always seem to be in demand, shove it on eBay!

If I ever ahve anything to get rid of that's too large or hassle, I just advertise it in the local paper / internet for free. Some one always comes round at takes it away - you'd be amazed.

Whereabouts in MK are you?
A few of us could use your car as practice for the PistonFest scrappy challenge
We'd probably be able to dismantle it so the bits will fit into a wheelie bin

Leighton Buzzard, so 5 miles up the A5 from central MK.

Just need to get shot of it tbh, parked outside the front of my parents and they get slightly... hmm irritated about my dilapidated heaps cluttering the view!

...Hmmmm...I wonder if Sheepy is organising another Leighton Buzzard meet soon....there's usually about 20 Phers that make it...and would be good to get some practice in.

I used to fix TVs for a mate who got them from the tip and sold them at car boot sales. Most of them didn't need fixing, or had trivial faults like dodgy switches. The occasional one was unrepairable though; in this case I'd strip out everything except the tube as a source of spares for the less knackered ones... my mate then took the empty shell and put it on a bench across the road. It never stayed there more than a couple of hours before someone snaffled the useless thing...
