There's a bit of a contrast between the DM and the FT.
DM: THE SKY IS FALLING IN!!!
FT said:
With chronic overcapacity in the industry, European refiners have been hit hard by the economic slowdown which has weakened demand for transport fuel and squeezed profit margins.
........
Analysts say the refinery’s customers can make up the shortfall in supplies with deliveries from the Esso Fawley refinery in Southampton and Total’s Lindsey plant in North Lincolnshire, as well as imported products.
FT: They closed because there was too much being produced, and the void can easily be filled.........

I did wonder why the petrol station was busy this morning. I hate it when stuff like this happens it makes those of us that always brim our cars look like the tard panic buyers.
I don't understand the concept of not brimming? I know a young lass that hates filling up so she just puts £20 in. after explaining that as £20 lasts a week then a brimmed tank would last 3 weeks, she brims it now.VR

If your tank is full it weighs more, car weighs more, mpg decreases.VR

By what percentage does your mpg decrease? 10%? 25%? 40%?I bet it costs more to make an extra 2 trips to the petrol station than it does to carry around an extra 20kg for a couple of hundred miles.

People who read the Daily Fail should be taken outside and shot
I don't read the Mail, nor had I seen your post until someone told me about it. As a result I felt that I absolutely had to log in and read it so that I could feel personally offended on behalf of Daily Mail readers everywhere. I demand a public apology!
On the plus side, if many do panic fill and brim their tanks, then in a few days the petrol stations will be lovely and quiet in time for me to go and fill mine.
I can't help but think that were it not for the Mail's usual over reaction no one would notice any difference, but their predictions of doom just become self fulfilling.
