Some of you may know I get bored quickly. I'm thinking about changing the c4 vts for something else.

My thoughts are this:

I either get something barge like, pref with a v8 but importantly it has to be enjoyable to chuck down a country road. Manual. Thinking 535?

Or

something tin can like. Probably a 306 gti6 or rallye.

At the moment I'm only driving roughly once or twice a week so it has to keep me amused.

Budget...500 to 2000.

NB. Can spend 2k if its 4 door, nearer 1k if its 3 door as I'd spend the rest changing her car to be the main family car.

Focus ST170? Not rapid in a straight line but do handle well.

Bank holiday weekend. People have lives away from a computer.
Be patient.

An old barge is unlikely to be much fun down winding country roads.

Ignore the 306, really. They aren't as good as some people make out.

My thoughts are turning to a fast saloon, much like the gta I used to own. Looking for inspiration, up to about 2k...

Help please.

My 2k would go on an Accord Type-R, not a V8 or RWD like a 535i, but will be more fun IMO.

This; I love sleepers:

E39 540i

Or, alternatively:

Scooby

ETA - I'd get the 540i and then put a 520d badge on the back wink

Yes, I am aware an E39 520d was never made

You will really struggle to get a good one in budget.

What about an E36 / E46 328i? I posted a really nice one in the bargain basement thread on the most recent page - worth a look perhaps?
