Ok all.. need your advice here..

Its renewal time again and my best two quotes are from my existing insurer (Admiral) and Adrian Flux.... (for a LHD VR6 Corrado with uprated brakes)

The quotes are comparable on paper (ie not much between them).... so I am looking at the the customer service when making claims side of thins

Based upon people's experience with making claims (I have never had to make a claim other than for chipped windscreen repairs).. which way would you advise me to go..

Ta..

I made a claim on Adrian Flux nearly four years ago and it was processed swiftly and to my satisfaction. I've been insured with them ever since so read into that what you will.

Can't comment on Admiral.

Hi there.

My first post on here, so here goes.

I've recently renewed with Flux (was with HIC last year) as they easily provided me with the best (read= cheapest) quote. But as soon as I had done this, I was advised by quite a few people in the owners club (vxlscc) that claiming with them was often difficult and they are very slow in providing documents in the first place.
I had to call them the other day to get them to send out the documents that I would have to return to them such as the form listing the modifications on the car and a letter from my previous insurer. They said they sent them last month, I certainly never got them. Got the second set the other day and have dispatched all relevant docs so I'm waiting with interest to see how long it will take to get the policy through.

Had no dealings with Admiral so can't help there.

I'm currently with Admiral and they seem ok (as much as an insurance company can be I guess) and I've not spoken to anyone in India so that's a good thing! Regarding Adrian Flux, I'd not go near them with a barge pole! Heard too many stories from Tiger and other oweners of more unusal vehicles that they're a nightmare come claim time. Your choice

We've been with Admiral for the last couple of years, and from our limited experience, they've been fantastic.

The day we moved to Admiral, my husbands car got broken into. We hadn't even had any doco or policy numbers from them, it literally happened on the first day of cover. They were fantastic and got everything sorted (window repair was all that was required) very promptly and with no issues.

The only other time we've needed to deal with them was last week when we wanted to up the mileage on the TVR and get comp cover for a trip to France. Again, they were superb. Happily dealt with me, although the policy's in my husbands name. Understood exactly what we were after, processed it immediately, didn't cost an arm and a leg, girl I spoke to was obviously NOT from an overseas call centre.

Excellent customer service. Or rather, customer service that you should expect, but more often than not, these days, don't get !

before you set yourself to those two camps - it might be worth quick ring to footman james for a quote. i confess, ive never made a claim, but theyve been pretty brilliant in just about every other respect!

Flux are cowboys of the highest order, avoid like the plague, they took 5 months to settle my claim and that was only after i involved the ombudsman, and the ombudsmans deadline had passed for them to settle it, they also refused to pay out agreed value on an agreed value claim.

Thanks peops... this has surprised me somewhat since this is not what I was expecting.. but a mirror thread on www.the-corrado.net has been fairly consistent with the opinons expressed here....

looks like I'll stay with Admiral....

I've just insured my Tiger Supersix with Flux on an agreed value policy.........

They wanted six colour photographs taken from various angles, interior shots, photographs of the speedometer (mileage) and an independent motor engineers written valuation.........

I totally agree. I had a policy with them a while back. They did a number of things to try and prevent me from moving away from them at renewal time.

Don't go near them.

I sent the same, they denied ever receiving it. so dealt with claim on a market value, luckily i had stacks of receipts to prove the car was worth a lot more than they had offered. In the end the had to pay the full repair costs which were 3 times what they had originally wanted to pay out as a total loss.

This is strange. I'm sure you know Adrian Flux are only a brokers and use many companies to actually insure you.

Maybe you got a duff company?

Well, to be fair to the company, they did send me written conformation of the agreed value......

And I can't really blame them for asking for the photographs, kit cars are not like normal production cars, where you can just look in "Glass's guide", the build qualities vary a great deal from excellent to downright dangerous.....

Had a claim with Admiral (my fault - hit a 4 hour old Festa)

They wrote off my Celica Gt four and paid a cheque within 2 days. Phoned them up as it was waaaay too low, sent a photocopy from autotrader and got another £2000 within a week

The staff were helpful, offered a courtesy car until the car was written off and were happy with mods etc.
