Hi,

I'm new to both the forums and to car tuning in general.

I currently have a 2012 plate 1.6 astra, which i like as a car but am looking for more power, without changing car as it is company sign written,

I am thinking of buying a new engine, preferably a 2l plus, to fit into the astra and was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to start looking, or any advice in general would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Brandon

It would be cheaper and easier to change the car and get new sign-writing done. 2012 car means lots of electronics and immobilisers and stuff, so not just a matter of swapping the engine, in a nutshell.

???

You want to remove the engine from a 2012 car and replace it with a slightly more powerful one?

Is it a company car or your own business car?

I bet the logbook will be left with 1.6 on it. Cheaper insurance, isn't it mate.

Hopefully, but not really your concern though.

Take the £3k it would cost for the engine swap, spend £2500 on an MR2. Spend the rest on getting your driving licence.

Just drop a TVR 4.0 Speed 6 engine into your Astra.

Fitting a bigger engine makes it modified. This means it has to be declared and insured as a modified car and that will be way more than an actual car with the same engine fitted as standard.
