Thought one of those lorries was going to roll over him. Could have been quite gruesome.

Bikes are cool. Full stop.

It is possible to ride them in a manner that's likely to result in an accident, but to a degree the same is true of any vehicle.

0-100 in sub 7 secs and 50 mpg. What's not to like?!

Ride safe

He was undoubtedly riding like a cock, but one incident does not mean all bikers ride that that. I've seen many DC5s being driven extremely badly, are all DC5 owners dicks?

They are only called that by cocks.

Agree with MR2Mike, I'm surprised by all the hostility towards us bikers from other petrol heads. Especially as there are far more dangerous drivers on the roads than there are bikers.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

These guys think they are invincible right until the moment when they are not.

Never go faster than the distance you can see to be clear and can stop in. That means blind corners too!

Heading to Matlock today, hope I will not meet anyone like this rolleyes

Who are "these guys"? If you mean people that ride or drive dangerously then I fully agree.

I did something similar before I had my full licence - a car had pulled out and stopped, another car behind it came to a stop, I was approaching them. I would have sworn that I was pulling on the front brake as hard as possible but I was still closing on the cars at the same rate. Somehow managed to wobble around them both, and came to a stop, heart in my mouth.

Looking back, I think I had frozen a bit with panic and was barely braking, if at all. Still, like I said, I would have sworn I was.

I would have aimed for the little hard shoulder rather than in between the trucks.

Got off lightly, could have been a lot worse. Quite simply, was going too quick without looking far enough ahead.

What are the braking capabilities of a bike like? I know that when they do superbike vs supercar comparisons on the track, the bike gets spanked entering the corners under braking.

If anyone has seen that video of the famous photographer on liveleak who had a similar accident although at much less speed you'll know how tragic this could have been.

Btw I have no axe to grind against bikers in general, it is just the morons who ride like him I have a problem with, like the one I nearly decapitated on a country road near Hornsea (east yorkshire) who decided it was perfectly acceptable to go round a blind (from his direction) corner with his knee down and the top half of his body on my side of the road. Luckily for him I had seen him and slowed more than I would have normally for the corner,so when he reappeared in my bit of road I managed to get my car really tight to my left, he stood his bike up and somehow we missed each other.
