Right, I've commissioned a trophy for the PistonHeads Driver of the Year.

This year it will be presented to the best driver at the PH/Caterham Slalom event at Dunsfold on November 27th. Depending on interest levels I may expand the concept in 2005

So, if you want to be the first PH DOTY then please join us at Dunsfold and dust off your mantlepiece.

Is this one of them there autotest thingies, that you have to remember the course layout, going backwards, forwards etc... and walk round mumbling to yourself doing gearchange movements, making engine noises and playing with an imaginary steering wheel?

Or is it wheel spinning round a course where it's obvious which direction to point the wheel?

I've no memory, see...

Dunsfold is near Guildford.

The courses are relatively simple.

We will all be in Westfields, so that should level the field a bit, no matter what people's daily drives are

You only have to memorise a very basic order for a few cones, no difficulty usually. They even help out by starting the clock ten seconds after you've left the line in Joust's case

You'll be fine, I'm 6'0, 15/16 stone and fit in both the slim and SV wide body caterham*, you'll get to drive both of them throughout the course of the day and will swap people around during the day so they get to be in the best one for them !!

*(i have slim hips and slimish legs)

It's Dunsfold Aerodrome, where Top Gear is filmed.

I thought Merrick might make them a bit harder this time as most of us would have been there before...

If they are all the same as usual you might as well just blindfold Joust to make it a bit more interesting for the rest of us....

I suspect Joust will be the runaway driver again but i intend to give him a run for his money/trophy again...

Damn that 2nd sandwich last time !!

Well, i've just signed up...

The price was £150 on the shop, but worldpay charged me £150.89. What do I get for the extra 89p

Sorry, 89p is for P&P to send confirmation.

When I say 'simple' courses I mean they won't be like that autotest video! I'm pretty confident we'll have a high standard of driver so we should be able to use more challenging courses than those we run on events where most people are novices.

I am 6'2 and nearly 16 stone. I have long legs.

I used to own a long cockpit Caterham Seven. (not one of the new SVs)

I had to sell it because I couldn't drive it safely as the wheel was up against my thighs.

The wide bodied Westies are better.

Cheers
