I think Autocar clocked almost 180 in a yellow C5 convertible too. Officially, the top speed is only 178 for the Z06 or 179 for the C5 which has longer gears.

The SVA man almost choked when I declared the top speed of the Z06 on the SVA form. Most people apparently put 100mph.....still, being honest no doubt made my integrity far greater in deciding whether to pass it, which he did.
