The PistonHeads Motoring Week

From LA to Tokyo and everything in between!

One motor show in a week requires a lot of work and organisation. A pair of them, on opposite sides of the planet, makes everything more than twice as challenging! But we've made it through Tokyo and LA press week with a veritable deluge of content for you to pore over. From F-Type coupe to Nissan IDx, everything relevant to the PHer from both shows is here, plus there's a heap of non-show content too.

LA Confidential
Yes, there was a show in Japan this week, but the only Tokyo film title we could think of was from Fast and Furious! PH content has been dominated by the pair of international expos this week, with debuts, drives and debate all week long.

From Tokyo, the biggest news was arguably the debut of the NISMO GT-R. Our man Dan in Japan (that is a coincidence, honest) lauded it with praise after the first drive; to mark the occasion, it's also the subject of our POTW.

Also from Japan, we've had a drive in a pre-production Honda Civic Type R, which displayed a huge amount of promise. Unfortunately, it still won't be available until 2015. At its home show, Honda has made a big effort to imply it's still an enthusiasts' brand. An interview with president Takanobu Ito has whetted the appetite for the NSX, and showing off a carbon CRZ reassured us that Honda still prides itself on engineering. We hope.

Take a look at Dan's Tokyo diary, plus the show round-up, for all the news from Japan.

Editor Trent took one for the team and grudgingly accepted Porsche's invite to LA. The big news from California was the unveiling of the Jaguar F-Type Coupe and the Porsche Macan. Both eagerly anticipated, albeit for very different reasons.

The Macan will rival Mercedes' GLA, revealed this week in range-topping GLA45 AMG spec. Other notable news from the USA includes the all-new (sort of) Subaru WRX and the announcement of a new Porsche Driving Centre.

See Dan's LA liveblog for all his American activities.

Mini Adventure
With the Mini Mk3 unveiling this week, plus a Mini Clubvan Fleet update, it only seemed right to delve into the classifieds for a Spotted. A sub-£10K Mini GP Mk1 certainly grabbed our attention.

And speaking of adventures, we were pleased to announce Land Rover and Race2Recovery will again be competing in the Dakar Rally. We'll be sure to keep you in the know on the team's progress.

Away from the motor shows, we've driven the Audi S3 saloon, a car that seems quite a bit more appealing than the hatch it's based on. That man Harris has also had a spin (not an actual spin, more just lots of smoky drifts) in a Corvette Stingray. And while looking for a Range Rover replacement, he's also stumbled across a Toyota MR2 V8. As you do. Monkey's video this week comes from the Goodwood Revival.

Team PH Speaks
Yep, there's yet more still. Before setting off for LA, Dan had chance to experience a day being chauffeured in a new S-Class, as well as bring together a few reviews for our RCZ R What They're Saying.

Back in a lonely PHHQ, Matt has been wistfully recalling the RCZ R launch and its spectacular roads in our latest Dream Drive. Having spent the most time in it, he's also updated us on life with a Mountuned Fiesta.

Furthermore, there's a new addition to the PH Heroes catalogue in the Toyota Celica GT-Four. Finally, there is a pair of fast estates for Carpool and Shed; a Mondeo ST220 and a Saab 9-5 Aero respectively. More next week, although maybe not quite as much!
