J5 M3 - strange tripods on bridge

I am driving to work this morning, kept checking my watch the M3 was so empty (strange?). Anyway drive under the bridge at Junction 5 of the M3 at Hook and there three strange looking cameras on tripods pointing down at the traffic and a unmarked white transit looking suspiciously police like parked next to them.

I am concerned, if there checking for speed then I fear I may have just picked up three points and a little fine. Please please someone tell me there reading my tax disc, sure I saw these on the A30 a few weeks ago.

Three cameras on a motorway, ie one covering each lane would be ANPR cameras, doing tax disk checks, overdue library books etc....

Its a Camera Saftey Parternship thingy and that ship has not just got 3 points and £60 fine

I have seen these a couple of times at the South Basingstoke junction, great for making people slam on the brakes just before the A303 turn off!!!!

If there were any police motorcyclists hanging about on the main road, they were ANPR cameras.

There was also about 5 or 6 on the southbound M5 a week or so ago, just as the M5 ends in Devon. Worried me.
