The reason my girlfriend hates me
Discussion
It's Christmas already.
Actually, she's cool about my problems. The only thing she said was "think of all the shoes I could buy with that sort of money".
Trust me when I tell you that you don't want to know how much. Clutch and flywheel next.
Decat going on on Thursday.
Suspension rebuild this weekend.
I'm going to have to move insurance companies as well.
We continue.

Rascal, blaine, brucie - you owe me a new monitor. This one is covered in beer....
I suspect it's more to do with me spending more time lying under the car than lying over, erm, well, yes.
You get the idea.

cue Mr E doing a lecture on superstrut suspension.
Yup. Toyota patent. Think double unequal wishbones with camber control joints (the ickle Fig-8s in the photo) and you're close. So it doesn't suffer from varing contact patches (which is good). And it's hideously expensive due to the rarity, which is bad.

And is unreliable so Toyota binned it from the GP A rally cars.
I believe the actual quote was somthing along the lines of "Like trying to setup an elastic tent".
Standard struts were simpler, easier to fix, stronger and easier to setup. They were also race proven.
Easy decision.
So the road car has more trick suspension than the WRC monster. And it wears the fig-8s and lower suspension arms out every 60K.
Hence the rebuild.
Friend of mine has just done his fig 8's and lower arms. Fogot to add we did his rear diff mount as well - that was a fun job
I've taken this up with him as well - why do people call them WRC cars when in the time the GT4 was competing the WRC class didn't exist. They were gpA cars.

Eeeeew. Not it's not. And you know it.
Diff mounts are OK I think. Clutch/Fly next. That's an utter bitch of a job.

Well, the homogation special was designated a ST205WRC, so I guess it was still called the World Rally Championship, even though the WRC class didn't exist.
I preferred the group A days. You could actually BUY road going versions. The 'grale, the Escort Cossie, the GT-Four.
How much fun would a 4wd 300bhp turbo nutter 206 be?
