I see on a couple of the max power cars local to me that they have removed the light unit on the inside of a 2 pod set-up - if you can work out what I mean...

So BMW style 2 pod headlight units fitted in an Escort and a Civic. Then the inner one (nearest the centre badge) is removed, leaving a gaping hole which sort of looks unfinished...

is this the new trend to replicate the Skylines which remove a headlight on the drag strip? Whats that for? Is it to cool the turbo or something?

Me very confused.

Usually there's a large bore pipe behind it feeding cold air to the (cone) air filter. Lot of racers do this as it gives a cooler feed of air to the engine and hence more power

I would have thought, it's to allow extra air into the air filter. Hidden, will be a piece of hozelock, with a trumpet on the end, which "forces" air into the air filter, generating on average an extra 1/2 bhp.

Saw a top Nova on the way home with an awesome neon strip on the parcel shelf....wi.wi.wi.wikkid.

Often done to install an after-market oil cooler behind the missing lamp.

Obviously quite unlikely on a MaxMuppet-mobile.

On a race car its fine, but on a road car, especially in this weather (even more so when badly done by some Kev with a piece of tumble dryer vent tube) it simply plasters the entire engine bay with a half inch thich layer of road clag

What's wrong with tumble drier hose?! DIY tuning, cheaper than paying extotionate prices for what is essebtially a bendy bit of plastic from Revotec or other suppliers, function over form and all that

Nowt wrong with using tumble drier hose as long as its done properly. Its kevs who use it and make some bodge job that just succeds in coating the filter (along with the rest of the engine) in road shit without producing any gain it power or cooling

I have this set up on my BGT, but have had to remove it due to the carb icing. Mind you i also had the rad surround removed which didn't help, but since early november long runs on damp cold days resulted in icicles forming on the carb which made the engine run lean (not good for superchargers!) and the throttle stick open!

I tell you, you haven't lived until you've tried stopping a 30 year old MGB with a near standard braking system on which the throttle is iced open right where the boost kicks in....!

Yeah, I saw that too. The list of "modifications" is laughable because it doesn't list anything mechanical - it's all cosmetic.

Yep...The Daily Mail is the paper of choice for arse wiping. That is my they use that no-smudge ink isn't it?

I though the Metro was there to protect the floor of the trains on wet days?

It's a free paper FFS. What do you expect, a quality broadsheet?

I don't expect anything, I'd rather they left the paper where they found it. And it's not free, just 'free at the point of delivery', to coin a phrase.
