Totally unsporty "sport" models

Loads of them, the BMW 116d MSport springs to mind.
It's all marketing bks basically, people think they want a fast car but they don't really (or want to pay for it) so they pay a bit more for a regular car made slightly more uncomfortable so they can pretend to everyone (and themselves) that their generic white goods purchase is somehow special.

I'm sat a few feet from my 2005 (Mk 4) Astra Sport. 1.6 litres (TWINPORT!!!) and spongy suspension, no brakes and - well, obviously no power. The seats are stock too. The only thing they appear to have fitted beyond the 16 inch wheels, are white dials.
It's not an awful car. It does what it was designed for very well. It's just yawn.
