With my new car arriving in less than 4 weeks, I still can't shift my old one (its been up for sale much longer than it says, date renewed because I changed the price).

Advertised it in a few other places (the usual) and have had tons of interest but no real biters.

Any advice? What would put YOU off buying it?

The price might still be a little high.

I think you are basing the price on all the modifications you have made-Stop and step back for a moment and ask yourself what would a standard 350Z be worth same age and mileage.

Only wish I had the spare folding.

What would put me off? I have a ting about performance mods that are not factory approved, although Andy and his boys should know what they're doing with Nissans by now...

A very specialist car,,,possibly a nightmare to insure...so the number of buyers are more limited than for a regular Z car.
seriously would it be worth putting the car back to near standard spec and selling the tuning parts on E-bay.

Its abit pricey imho. I sold 350z's from new when i was working at a nissan dealer up till last june. I know you have spent money on it and the supercharger is a great idea it doesnt really add a huge amount of value to the car.

Dont get me wrong, i think the car is stunning. Its the best example ive seen and it should sell easily which is why i can only imagine its the price.

Have you tried 350z forums?? i think there is an online owners club.(sorry ted)

Re: the price.

Everyone prices things a little higher than they expect, but I've not even had anyone make me an offer. Is that not how you do things these days?

Apart from "I'll give you a fiver for it, heh heh...."

Now I'm weeping at the current price, knowing what I spent on it.

Ah the modding game.....its a harsh mistress....

Very true. If its priced to high people wont even bother making an offer. The problem is that you can pick up a new import and supercharge it for less than what you are selling yours for.

Cracking car thou!!!!

My opinion, I would not spend that much without dealer backup, and I understand cars pretty well.

Try the TVR approach: drape scantily-clad babes over it, it'll sell like a hot cake...

Yep, ultra specialist car with a very narrow market of buyers... there might be two insurance companies who would insure it depending on where the prospective buyer lives and their previous car history (speaking from experience here).

It's also a two year old car... how much is a two year old 350z worth private now? Add £5k (or 50% of whatever it cost to install the supercharger). That's your selling price if it wasn't such a bad time of year to sell.

Yes, the modified business is not nice unless you're the modifier (as opposed to the mug who's having their car modified )

Actually, I'm insured by Tesco!

Obviously cost me a few hundred quid extra when I declared the mods but not extortionate.

Someone suggested Ebay. Any thoughts?

A couple of concerns of mine would be insurance and warranty cover being a modified car. If you could add something to explain how that is catered for in your ad it might help

Advertise it in Ireland. The love those sorts of cars over there. A friend of mine sold his Celica to a trader over there and it's now up for €25K!!! Gave £10.5 for it here!

I'm looking at new cars ATM. I did look at yours and apart from the price, the non-standard colour put me off. Resprays never seem to get everywhere. Maybe I'm wrong on yours.

That and the insurance-unfriendly mods.

There's two patches in the engine bay that are still dark grey (the original primer colour). Apart from that, you'd never tell. The car was stripped down and painted - it wasn't a masking tape and newspaper job. Took about 4 weeks.

Modified cars....everyone loves them, but no one buys them
I know from bitter experience, didn't stop me modding my current one thought

You could try this guy Danny Neville

www.thevirtualcarshowroom.co.uk/

He sells your car for a fixed fee, the advantage for you is that he can sell your car with a warranty and also does finance and px.

The car looks truly gorgeous, but I think the respray is definately going to put people off (not matter how well it was done) and the price doesn't compare favourably with a quick search on Autotrader... You have obviously cherished it, but this often means you aren't going to get back what you put into the car (esp with a flood of imports to soften the prices further)

Sorry, just trying to tell it like it is...

Nice car though

Don't apologise man, that's exactly what I'm looking for - an honest opinion so I can try and market it better (for want of a better word).

Thanks everyone for your input so far, certainly given me food for thought.
