206k mile 993 - how big are your cajones?
Discussion
Just saw this on eBay.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1994-PORSCHE-911-993-C2-...
Looks a nice, straight car and, by the standards of current pricing, very sensibly priced but could you get your head around that mileage?
I suppose, the devil will be in the detail; exactly what mechanical work has been done whe.
It'll be interesting to see how the auction goes

i'm not following prices these daily, but i don't think that's far off fair value.
subject to verification it's got good history and did most miles when being used & serviced regularly.
All looks good apart from high miles, hence 'just' 30k. Should have bought a low mileage one for 20k 5 years ago!

"I bought it earlier this year, but due to another project I just can not justify keeping both, however saying that if it does not sell I will store it if required."
I think that sounds spiteful, if you aren't going to buy it for my ridiculous price I am keeping it.
Its like the "just testing the water" type adverts you see where the hidden subtest is really "just testing the water to see if anyone is stoopid enough to pay the price i'm asking"I think that sounds spiteful, if you aren't going to buy it for my ridiculous price I am keeping it.

Then again I'd have rectified the MoT advisories before sale if I really wanted to sell it, as suspension is a big issue at high mileages, even if the engine/gearbox is OK.
Price aside, is mileage really such an issue on such an old car ? so many will have had a haircut, been crashed and whatever I would be buying on condition, how it drives and what work has been done over the last few years. To be honest I would rather have one thats been used regularly.

All fair and valid points but its a car that has been to the moon and back the owner is still looking £30K for it.You'd have to really really want a 993 to spent that on one with starship miles, and even if you did buy it, what are you really achieving there?

Wow, intergalactic mileage! Price is way too high for the mileage, looks very nice though. If I paid more than £20k I would feel robbed!
+1Some of the reasons for buying a classic porsche is the future desirability come resale time and strong residual values relative to purchase price.
Both of which you wont have with this one.

Yes, I think it is. I had an old cav, took it to 155k, great car. Sold it to my best mate who took it over 200k. By then it was REALLY baggy. Still worked but crap to drive. I don't care what quality of car you have, wear is wear. Garage queens have their problems but the high value classic cars all have bizarrely low miles. For a good reason. Making a 200k mile car drive like 50k will cost you a fortune.lost in espace said:

Sod it, he can keep it. He's seen prices on the up, he's flying a kite. Good luck to him but he'll end up keeping it. It should go for u under 10k in a sane world but 911prices have been mad for a few years now.I think that sounds spiteful, if you aren't going to buy it for my ridiculous price I am keeping it.

Price aside no - on a sub £1k car mileage wouldn't bother me BUT this is supposedly a £30k car !so many will have had a haircut, been crashed and whatever I would be buying on condition, how it drives and what work has been done over the last few years.

But I can check for crash damage and mileage reductions - and how do you know this hasn't had either ?
Used regularly - yes - but what is the design life of a 993 ? I'd suggest a lot less than 200k that's not to say there aren't far higher mileage cars but how many parts have been replaced ? How well do they drive ? How likely is a large bill ?
