Hello all,

Just looking on your opinions on this.

A neighbour of ours, just down the road from us, has "claimed two spaces" on part of the road; to the point if anyone at all parks in either of these spaces they get blocked in, sometimes overnight. Despite this, it seems they have now gone a step further and painted a disabled bay in one of these spaces on the road.

A google maps image probably makes more sense so:
https://goo.gl/maps/giX4rdtidun

The two spaces they have "claimed" are the two on the right, with the drawn up disabled bay being marked where the black car is. His wife did have a problem with her leg due to an accident many years ago but seems to have recovered, with daily trips to the local school and halloween round the village yesterday; but could still be disabled, I don't know specifics.

So, based on the above what would you do? Wife is saying to just leave it as it doesn't affect us, but I'm not so sure.

Even with floor markings - they still aren't his.

Anyone with a disabled badge can use it.

so if you happen to have one lying around (or just print one off google - then park there.

Yes, but it is just to further deter people from parking there who believe it's official. Has done quite a good job in all fairness with yellow paint and his stencil

Report it to the highways dept at your council.

Report it to the Council. Mention "Fraudulent use of blue badge" whilst at it.

People who claim the land outside their property are very high on the dhead scale. I get we all want to park near to our place. And I've often moved my car to the space outside, once a visitors car has gone. But similarly sometimes I had to leave my car round the corner. It's just tough st if I cant park nearby. I and no one else OWNS that section of road!

Does he have a disabled badge on his car? If not, call the council and dob him in for parking in a disabled park without a permit.

I would suggest that if there were a genuine need for such a space (disabled resident, poor mobility, nowhere else safe/convenient to park) then a request could be made to the local council to create such a reserved space. As it is it sounds like neighbour boy (based on what you've said) is a narcissistic prick with entitlement issues. Inform the council who shall no-doubt bill him for the privilege of removing the paint.

Please also cross post in the council thread... This could be a winner.

Paint black over it when he's not there.

Send him an invoice that appears to be from the council for the work you've done. State that it doubles every month it's left unpaid or something

Even if they were legitimate bay's that he'd requested from and had been put down by the council they are completely unenforceable and so anyone can park in them.

He's broken the law and so If I were you I'd report him to your local council, then once they're gone park there as much as possible!

I'd just leave it be. It doesn't affect you, if you let it eat you up you'll wind up as bitter and twisted as the perp.

Park there. If he complains tell him it's not an official disabled bay as they're painted in white, not yellow.

Unless you intend to have fun with the situation.
