Seems it's just a game to them. How can they be taken seriously when they parody themselves? Sad.

Almost as exciting as spending the day staring at a blank wall, and nearly as painful as slamming one's head repeatedly into said wall.

I propose another TV show. Members of Transport 2000 are lined up on a tarmac surface, and are then driven over by a variety of environmentally sound vehicles. As a bonus, we'd be able to hear their shrieks over the nice quiet electric motors.

Of course it's a bloody wind up the BBC reporter is taking the pi$$ from Transport 2000 by suggesting what their idea of "Third Gear" might be like.

BBC said:

Could a TV show about sensible driving and environmentally-friendly alternatives to cars really be entertaining? Eco pressure group Transport 2000, which wants to scrap the BBC's high octane Top Gear, thinks so. But what would it be like?

And.........

BBC said:

So, here's the running order for the imaginary first two editions of Third Gear,

Clarkson & the Top Gear producers must be really shaking in their boots. Or rather having endless giggles writing the scripts for the new series getting in as many digs at T2000 as they can.

It would be funny if it wasnt so believeable.

How have Transport2000 got such a loud voice when they are plainly supported by people with a vested interest in the restriction of car journeys?

Its like banning paracetomol and putting the steering group in charge of its replacement in the hands of Nurofen.

Or TG could do a feature on crash safety (T2000 should approve) where Jezza slams into lentilists on a runway in a variety of 4x4s, sportscars, superminis and assesses the damage to the bonnet, the creases in his shirt, how much of his pint was spilled etc...

It might be a really good idea to find out how many of the T2000 heirachy drive and what it is they use.

I just feel there's at least one of them who does the school run in the city using a 4x4.

Jeremy Clarkson would "test drive" a range of new "shopper" bicycles and assesses the advantages of front basket over rear rack. He takes a trip to his local organic food store and stocks up on green lentils, brown rice and mung beans before stacking them carefully on his bike for the journey home along traffic-calmed Liverpool Road in north London. Once he arrives, he measures the amount of lentils, rice and beans left in the bags before cooking himself a nutritious meal.

Very strange you should say that, my thoughts exactly. Was just thinking was Steven Hounsham drives. Please please please please let it be a daily driver of a Hummer H1 and a Cobra 427 S/c side oiler at the weekend. Oh and a Harley for getting to work.

No it's not. it's a collection of thoughts in the prototype phase. It's a tried and tested method, akin to a platoon leader sending out a lame duck to draw enemy fire, before anhilating said enemy with the big guns, a.k.a. draconian legislation. (and no, i'm not kidding)

In the original article, Twts2000 claimed Clarkson would have just as much fun in a bus as a ferrari. I hope they give this a try.

Imagine the stig taking a Number 73 round the track!

Bunch of irrational, ignorant, dim witted, brainwashed neo-facist nut cases.
There is absolutely no reasoning with them with data.
Their emotion-led and totally biassed arguments make me feel sick.

Could be fun to see a T2000 version of Top Gear. The ratings for both shows would indicate the mood of the general pubic. I remember the original series of Top Gear, test driving the most mundane of cars and it was excruciatingly dull.
