Just got this months free mag - two points;
TV prog fronted by Clarkson starts on Sun Oct 20th, two other presenters - ex car sales rugby player and little bloke who owns two Land Rovers, an old 911 and a bike.
Second point - this months 'take someone out to choose a new car spot' is some bloke giving up his Mondeo company car for 'something sporty'. He tries S2000, TT Roadster, Boxster, Morgan 4/4, XK8 and Chimaera. Well what do you know, he buys the TVR.

Just a hunch - was the XK8 a convertable like all the rest?
Who the hell are these people who have tens of thousands of pounds to spend but can't be arsed to read a few magazines and take a few test drives to choose a car?
Yes, it was. He wanted a 'convertible sports car' with an element of practicality as it was to be an everyday car to replace the company hack. I guess he didn't think cars like the Lotus were practical enough. He had a £25K limit.
I also noticed in the 'Clarkson On Cars' pull out another gaping inconsistency in the great one's opinionating.
He seems to think the 360 Modena is now actually quite wonderfull where previously he had been less than convinced.
And his conversion to the undoubted merits of Porsche's 911 Turbo of late is equally at odds with his stated position on this icon generally.
Then again, if it's a choice between the meat cleaver presentation of Mr.C and the slightly mildewed lettuce of an excuse for the current crop of motoring presenters, then I'll side with the Jag Man any day.

I've got to admit that for the "everyday use" critera I'd have had the XK8, ok its not as fast, as raw, as much fun and IMO not really a "sports car" more a Gran Tourer but they simple glide along with no effort and closet you in the "gentlemans club" of leather, wood and tranquility they are lovely cars to use on longer trips and everyday.
PS you do still need a TVR in garage to play with though

I notice that they didn't see fit to show him the Lotus Esprit, to which all others would have, in my opinion, faded into insignificance. Of the choice he had, I think he chose the nicest, but the choice wasn't great.
It looks like he was after a car in the next class up
Maybe he'll get an elise for his Mrs
Edited to say "Doh, Ithought you said Elise" you're still wrong of course

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you're wrong.
