I am looking into computer aided graphics and am wondering which ones are usually chosen by "big" companies to generate 3D models of upcoming cars.
Thanx.

Hi, I've found one link:

www.aliaswavefront.com/en/WhatWeDo/studio/see/nissan.shtml

A piece of software called Studiowave 3D, which Nissan use.
Plenty of pics on the above webpage.
hope this helps.

Also try http://online.retro-style.ru/forum/forum.php?board=4

Which is a forum dedicated to 3d car design..

thats pretty much it, most if not all car companies use alias somewhere, but its normally a version called autostudio. its basically the same but there is some extra tools for surface evaluation and more complex curves. I am actually waiting for a rendering to finish in alias right now!! if you need any more info drop me a line, as i work with a guy who devloped some of the tools in alias.

prelude4ws...How long does rendering take with alias?

At uni, they use two entire computer labs (about 40 Pentium 4 1.7Ghz) They run the students rendering projects across the network over night.

How long would it take on my AMD Duron 800mhz?
