CarZee, my friend. Did you have a good time on Anglesey?

I've been looking into you BookATrack recommendation - I can see why you'd use them. The idea of renting a car between a couple of drivers sounds like a great idea - and you can take your own car around whilst the other driver is using up their brakes and tyres.

So..was it good. Did you like the Track? Was the car fun? Would you go again?

Should I be considering doing the same?

I've one thing to say about the journey there and the journey home: I don't want to talk about it

But, yes, Saturday at Anglesey Circuit was marvellous..

It's a cracking circuit & the gods smiled on us, giving us dry cool weather for the day - it actually stopped raining overnight and started again at 5pm as we'd just finished for the day..

In the morning I used Book-a-Track's BatPug (aka the ButtPlug.. ) thus:

Anglesey is a superb little curcuit.. it's tight with not much advantage to be had by the high powered cars. There are elevation changes, camber changes, surface grip changes throughout the circuit. It's an enormously technical circuit and demand perfection at every corner to get a decent lap going. I can believe the BaT guys when they say after more than 30 trackdays there, they are still finding quicker ways round.

IMO it's not a track massively suited to FWD cars, having quite a few small crests and off camber corner exists where you just cannot get the power down adequately. That said, the BatPug is quite an entertaining bit of kit - standard 205 1.9GTi, stripped out with race seats and a rollcage..

In the afternoon I took my S2 out and it was G-Lorious.. absolutely superb - I as so impressed with my car's performce on track.. the experience was added to by the fact that I'd ripped a massive hole in my exhaust's centre section on the Anglesey lanes and hence my S sounded like a Formula 3000 car - ask M@H and Johno

More pics on my site... www.fffnh.com/photos/headings.asp?group=10 including pics of M@H and Johno gettingt their respective track jollies.. and, sicne the day was originally an Evo forum event, some other shoddy machinery

I'd recommend it thoroughly.. and Book-a-track are by far the premiere track day company if you want a safe and well run yet inexpensive track day.

looed like it was fun then! i went to anglesey a few months ago, the tasmin challenge was on and i think that track is great, it needs improvement, but they could make it an excelent place, the views you get over the mountains are very nice aswell. (there was a 1hour 2CV rae aswell, jesus! )

Loud wasn't the word. For people who know Anglesey we could hear Carzee coming through School and up form Abbotts when we were stood at the Hairpin. Totally opposite end of the circuit.

As for the track.....superb. Definitely going back. A really technically challenging track that rewarded neat driving and getting the lines roght.

The capacity of the place to allow for complete gooning and lurid power slides was also there !!

Carzee,

The run down the A55 and A41 was quite good fun on the way home though

that's one way of putting it

is another

It was a great run - numpties are no match for a pair of determined TVR drivers on the loose..

At the circuit, Johno and M@H who'd both recently traded up from an S to newer TVRs, looked on from the bank at the hairpin as I wailed past, tires smoking, wishing their had their S's back

Just shit traffic and poor weather, Jeremy - 60 miles of queuing on Friday night, from M5-J2 to M6-J20.

Having never been stuck in traffic in a car with such a heavy cluth, I thought my kneecap was gonna pop out

With the exception if the A41 blast with Johno on the way back, the dire journeys to and from almost ruined the weekend for me.. but not quite

Good to hear that you all had a good time. Right. BookaTrack here I come. My 'S' will be a while getting enough miles on it to be ready for a track day so renting something makes sense.

And once its got enough miles on it.....

When I go up to Anglesey (my folks live there) I usually use the A5 cross country route. Since the A55 opened up as dual carriageway (shows how old I am!) the traffic on it has reduced considerably.

Its fun overtaking along it - although the opportunities are few and far between in places.

I will admit at this time of year (and in last Friday night's weather!!!!) its not so great. But if you can travel in the daylight the scenery is fantastic - and the road great entertainment.

Roll on the summer!

and Just to add my 2p on the event.. My frst ever trackday in a car I'd had for 5 weeks..

Trip up was very nice barring some horrendous roadworks.. doing 90-100 where available through snowdonia seemed almost surreal... the huge mountains either side, an imposing sky overhead and no traffic barring Me and Stuart.

Arrived late afternoon on the friday then found the pub for dinner, Andrew turned up 45minutes later with the keys to the cottage we were all staying in, but they didn't fit the locks . After Stu and I turned up to confirm this with Andrew and some swift attempts at a non damage break in we resorted to spending half an hour sat about in the dark in Andrews Passat waiting for the keyholder to arrive. Keyholder duly turned up, followed by Aiden, then Johno bringing up the rear (or was it Beer). Both Andrew and Johno brought a decent quantity of wet stuff along so the evening was spent drinking beer and playing pool.

2am we went to bed, then all up at 8am with assorted levels of headache and hangover, a swift breakfast and convoy to the track.

As I was a "virgin" I got to do 2 viewing laps then immediately afterwards had the £20 session with one of the BaT guys who sat beside me and talked me round the track for 20 minutes.. best £20 spent in ages as at least I knew where the lines were for the track, and as the Chim had a bit of "go" in it anyway I was able not to look like a complete novice for the rest of the day.

Having had lifts with Stuart in his Seven, and Johno in the mighty 500 (thanks both), I took Johno out in mine and quietly hope he was impresed with my little 400.. not quite in the same league as his motor but very tractable and predictable on the circuit, with no "moments" at all.

The highlight for me was watching Aiden give my old car a real caning round the circuit.. and boy did it look poised and well balanced on the track.. a lovely car, and sounding superb (oh and the other highlight was the Super unleaded run down the A55, Chim, Griff and Cerbie all with over 130 up)

That evening was Pizza, more beer and pool, and bed by 2am again.. the folliwing day we awoke to be in "the eye of the storm".. everyone getting away safely apart from me who had to wait for Brittania rescue to give me some help.. however I was on my way home by 10.30

What a top weekend.
Thanks all
Matt.
