A Subaru Legacy when my WRX was in for an engine rebuild under warranty.

When the engine went Subaru paid for a hire car from Enterprise and I was given a brand new Astra. After 6 weeks Subaru got bored and told the garage to give me a courtesy car. They offered a Corsa. Turned that kind offer down, and they took a Legacy off the forecourt instead.

An old Daimler Sov. Had dodgy brakes and would rock you to sleep on tickover at the lights with the engine wobble...But it did look very gangster (whilst my MR2 Tub was in having a new engine...)

Dunno about best but 'worst' is easy: a battered Saab with 200,000 miles on the clock, and when it was time to return it I had to call the AA to start it.

This may sound familiar to TVR owners in a certain part of the country!!

My dad once had an elderly Peugeot 106 in replacement for a BMW 5 series. The pedals were so close together it was impossible to brake with accelerating too!

Subaru Justy 4x4. A suprisingly good car, and I just loved the button on the gear knob to engage the four wheel drive

Cortina 2.3 V6 when my Monza was in the garage for body repair.

Got a drive of an Iso Riviolta while my car was in for a Valet once but that was more of a test drive than a courtesy car.

Had an Omega Elite when Porsche went in for service at OPC once it was knackered but with leather seats. Oh and a Mercedes A class too, that was not a bad car really.

i was given a V6 alfa 156 when my 1.6, 156 was in getting a new head after the cambelt snapped.
there was an almighty row when i took it back, as it turned out a sale had ben agreed on it at a certain price before it was given to me, and me putting well over a thousand miles on the clock really peed off the prospective owner!

worst car i had was a subaru legacy estate, it had been just traded in by a farmer, was filthy inside and out, had done about a million miles, and actually had corn or something sprouting in the damp boot!

Me too! Great handling, low limits, predictable behaviour, revvy engine, good communication AND lift-off oversteer!!! I was having a ball in the one I had. But wouldn't own one.

So it's either that or the Mk3 Astra 1.8i Sport I had when my Orion was in the bodyshop about 7 years ago (ONLY time I've ever had a courtesy car better than the car I owned!!!)
