It looks like they chickened out of remodelling the bulkhead/transmission tunnel etc. to clear the gearbox and bellhousing - did what they could with an angle grinder, an arc welder and a big hammer in the engine bay area only. The engine seems to be a long way forward of the bulkhead (and also seems to be sitting a bit high up). I reckon that with a decent welder and a better selection of hammers you could mount the engine a lot further back and a bit lower - dry sump it maybe if the sump well is why it's so high - replace the carbs and manifolds with FI and throttle bodies, and revert to either a standard bonnet line or at worst one with a respectable power bulge like the MGC. It would also handle better, go faster and use less fuel.

Might look better if the bonnet had a hole in it and it had a nice plenem chamber and air inlet system to show off. Although I have seen a Midget V8 conversion before and I'm pretty sure the engine was fitted lower down and didn't need to be that far up.

4 Doors on a Midget!!!! now that i would like to see!!

The car is a complete and utter mess Especially with that vaccum- formed Bonnet look!

Its a real shame, my father once had a midget and i didn't think that it looked too good but now i think it was the best example now i've seen this rubbish!

Looks like they put it on top of the original engine

Those bonnet vents look suspiciously like the ex-Ford ones that TVR used on the Grantura... Maybe a Grantura fan bought the MG just to get a lifetime's supply of vents...
