Speeding question

I seem to remeber somewhere on this site a point made about a speeding ticket having to be issued within two weeks of the offence or else it is invalid.
Can anyone confirm this or point me in the right direction?

The NIP must be served on the registered keeper within 14 days following the date of the offence. First class post is deemed satisfactory service.

The fact that the DVLA / Police records may not be up to date (recent change of owner) or that you drive a company car such that the NIP does the rounds before dropping through your letterbox a couple of months later is irrelevant. The first NIP is the all important one...

In 1989 I waited for the magical 28th day to come with no nasty surprise. As it was it came on the 26th day. Maybe it's changed since then.
