Right then, due to circumstances beyond my control that cant be communicated at this time I find myself in somewhat of an unfortunate situation.

Firstly, and most I am having to sell my beloved Chimaera 450 ( ) and also I am having to cancel my recently placed order for my lovely T350C ().

So I am looking for another car. The rules enforced by my company are that it must be less than 4 years old and cant be anything too silly (so no Caterhams) and must have 4 seats.

In light of this I could buy a car older than 4 years as my daily transport as long as I bought 'er indoors a new small car and use the excess in my allowance for something a bit more special.

My thoughts so far as far as using the allowance for a main car:

A8/S8
S6 Avant
S4 Avant
S3 with chip, uprated turbo etc etc etc looking for one in excess of 300bhp
Merc CLK 320 Kompressor
RS4 (depending on residuals)
Overfinch Range Rover 400 Sport
BMW M3/M5 (maybe, again, dependant on residuals)

If I was to go the route of a supermini and something older then I am into more:

Cerbera 4.5
911 (though not sure what age)
Maserati 3200GT

So, with an upper limit of £30K and an age limit of 4 years, what would you do?

Matt.

So why can't you go for the super-mini and keep the Chimaera?
Bad news about the T350 order mate! Feel gutted for you Matt!

I'm slightly confused!! Do you really HAVE to sell the 450?? Why not just keep it instead of selling and buying something older than 4 years?? Maybe I'm just missing the point!!

Thought about that, but if we were going to go that route the Chim or the T350 would effectively be toys because I wouldnt want to commute in either of them from the Windsor area into London. Then, if its a toy its a big interest payment a month to be sat on the drive more than I am driving it.

Believe me, I have tried and tried and tried to work out a way to keep a TVR but its not looking good.

Just to clarify the Chim and the T350 have got to go due to lack of rear seats...

How about a merc C43 AMG? In your price bracket and a bit of a ballistic Q car by all accounts.

Or you could go for a skyline? Or some other Japanese turbo-nutter-bastard mobile?

So just to clarify it has got to have 4 seats and be less than 4yrs old if that is the case then it has to be a :

Cerbera 4.5

The only other option I can think of is a 993 but decent ones tend to be just over 30k

IMHO all the q cars / fast Audi's etc etc are just that, a fast Audi or a fast Merc and have no soul !!!

Genuinely. Go Porsche. With your budget there's a chance with some hard looking about you could get a 996. I think 911 and Porsche World found a 996C2 (low spec) for £30K recently..about the four years old too I think.

You get two usable rear seats (for youngsters) and most of the performance you had in your Chimaera. You can commute in it too.

If not I'm certain a good 993 could be found. domster and scottster being your men for finding Porsche bargains. I'm the nutter who pays too much for them .

People I know with Cerbs don't commute in them every-day..but I'll bet there are people who do..and it does passable rear seats too if you want to stay in the TVR fold...

Since you've got to go through the pain and expense of change try and enjoy it...go for a few test drives!

Cerbera, Matt - no question

But make it a 4.5 - you know it makes sense!

If the rear seats are for adults, unfortunately i'd recomend getting a normal car. Cerb's seats are ok for emergencies but no good for ferrying around three fat cat executives.

BTW, by normal car I was thinking of Jag XJR8 and the likes. After all, you still need a bit of power.

Hmmn, why did I have a feeling that the Cerb would come out as the recommended option from you lot!

I think from what you have said Don that I will have to pay a little more heed to the 911 market, perhaps a trip down to AFN is in order this coming weekend.

C43 AMG - Not something I had considered but I will be hitting Autotrader post haste.

Considered a Skyline but in all honesty they are a bit pig ugly for me, 600bhp does sound appealing though!

Thanks chaps! Oh, and if you think of anything else, keep 'em coming!
