Ex sony demonstrator I would wager.

New version of the Silverado pickup I would expect, something like that anyway.

This car used to sit in a garage near me - workmanship on the inside was amazing - top job.

The back pickup bit, however, was all checkerplate metal and looked a bit guff. Turned heads though, which is what it was for.

The only thing I like about these cars is the built in drinks coolers with drain plugs in the sides of the rear of the pickup bit at the back. Well the Caditac has them anyway.

Uh, uh, yo, oh yeah innit, bitches, ho's, done time, know da street, loadsa bling, now I'm gonna rap 'bout how much money I got, don't diss Biggie & Tupac or I'll pop a cap in yo' ass.

Why are cars like these considered desirable? I hope rap culture eats itself (or shoots itself as is more likely)

Alternatively.

Pickups are the largest selling vehicle segment in the US by a MILE

Sony need a US showcar to launch a line of Car Audio.

Do they use a car that no one drives, like a Hyundai or do they use a car which is enormously popular?

Its not a statement, its a marketing tool and I bet my bile duct it was a very successful one at that.

Plotloss - as usual I couldn't give a flying f**k how successful it was. Just because something or someone makes lots of money doesn't mean I have the slightest bit of respect for them or their 'product'.

Obviously but it has nothing to do with rap, its more to do with interfering with farm animals.

Jesus Twincam, you're very narrow minded. Just because something isn't to your taste doesn't mean you should feel anger towards it, or those who desire it.

Cheers,
Rob.

I don't think I am. I do think that both the American car industry and the ICE industry are quite narrow-minded.

Everything coming out of America (with the exception of some muscle cars) seems to be going for this rap-inspired 'street' look. Time was when the Americans catered for loads of car cultures - muscle car racing, the heavy metal scene, the Latino modifying culture, Mid-Western landowners etc. Nowadays it's all rap.

And as for ICE - am I the only person who turns the bass down? It seems that ICE demonstrators always emphasise the power and sheer bass imbalance and just serve to distort and ruin most of the music I like, so they only really cater for one kind of music (ie R 'n' B/drum 'n' bass), surely? It wouldn't make me want to buy a Sony car stereo.

So no, I don't think I'm narrow-minded at all, I think a lot of industries and media try and bend everyone into the mainstream and I defiantly stand against that. It's stuff like this that I see as a threat to individuality.

Which is why, like I said to Plotloss, I don't care how much money it makes. I'm allowed not to respect it and I'm allowed not to like it.
