So there I was spending a lot of yesterday getting the 182 all waxed and cleaned ready for my first PH meet, got the pistonheads stickers on so it was looking all good.

couldn't sleep last night with anticipation of the day, woke up at 6.30 so that i could get ready.

left home at around 7.35, went on my way to pick my mate up who was coming with me.

pulled up at a junction, waiting to pull out, some woman comes from the left of me quite fast, with another car approaching to my right, with me waiting. the stupid woman doesnt stop, as if she is going to cross right in front of the car to my right, she does stop, but not before the guy to my right has locked his brakes and clipped my bumper, taking it with him!

I cannot possibly explain how I am feeling now, I know it is just a car but i was sooooo looking forward to today, and its not even my fault that my car is in a lock up now in pieces. I will post pics probably tomorrow, right now i can't bring myself to look at them.

I really do love my car, its everything to me, and i am so unexplainably bloody annoyed about what has happened its untrue, worst case is, if the insurance goes up i might not be able to afford to keep it, as its that much, i was hoping for 1 years no claims at the end of the summer, does anybody know if it will be affected? even though i HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR!!!

i still went to VW in me old car, had a great time, met V15BEN who was a sound bloke, but the day was pretty much ruined with the underlying fact that i would have to come back to my car, which is broken.

I am just so distraught at the moment, there were a few people i was going to chat to today, but didnt because i didnt have my car with me.

I'm also sorry to the people at junction 22, but as i didnt have any of your numbers i couldnt do anything about it, its a good job Ben rang me. Still a shame i didnt get to meet any of you, or travel down with you, as that is half the fun.

I just cannot believe that me, at 7 bloody 30 in the morning, on a sunday, can manage to get the crap knocked out of my car through no fault of my own!

I look forward to your views on the insurance matter, and anything you might have to say that could cheer me up! pics of my Pride & Joy from yesterday after i'd finished cleaning it can be found in the events forum in the thread 'are you ready for tomorrow?'

cheers

Robert

Get some pictures, I hope you've got some witnesses as well. I hope to hell the bloke doesn't try and claim you pulled out. Write everything down NOW! Including time of day, conditions, exactly what happened, make, model, colour etc of other cars involved. Hope it gets sorted.

yeah i got pictures right after it happened.

There is no possible way he can say that i tried to pull out, i was stopped and behind the give way line. after he hit my car i didnt move it, and then took photos. i have an incident number from the police, who luckily were just around, GOT BREATHILISED!!! first time as well.

thanks for that i hope it gets sorted too

Whatever you do, don't get it rapaired at Nationwide, name and shame prevent me from saying any more. They're most insurers' repairer of choice, but not because of the quality.

I can second that, my company car had to go through them (as my fleet manager arranged it) and the front bumper on my Celica now has a panel gap big enough to climb through!!! And thats after it went back for them to try and sort it out twice, fortunatly my local dealer is willing to have a look at it at the next service.

Gutted for you mate especially after comparing waxed cars yesterday. I know you don't want to her this but it's a car and it's repairable, the main thing is your ok. Shit happens it's just that it's happend today of all days.

This should cheer you up

I can refer you to a crash I had some years back, I bid for a car in work for a charity auction. The car new XK8 with 500 miles on the clock. The time January. I won the bid to take the car home for 5 days. I even took some leave to enjoy the time with the car. On the 3rd day after Sunday lunch I took my father in-law for a quick spin. I say quick as we only got 400 yards from his front door when I lost the back end leaving a 30 zone. I went off road into a farmers drive way taking out fence post after fence post. I corrected the slide hoping to get it back on the road (I know, what was I thinking)only to come back across the road taking out a telegraph pole (clean off at the base and never even touched the roof) before ploughing into the ditch on the other side of the road head on. Air bag threw my Oakley's into the back of the car. My father in-law went forward and his nose evacuated it's content onto the dash (snot not blood). In hindsight it was the funiest thing I've ever seen. Just when I thought it was over a Scooby came around the corner and hit the telegraph line that was now across the road taking off a layer of paint from bonnet to boot. The Jag was written off.

I still take stick for that and it was 5 years ago. My father in-law only started speaking to me again last year.

See it could be worst

Regards, Richard

Was the third party insured??
Had my car written off 4 years ago in Kingston(it was only 6 months old). It was parked by the river side near the city centre. Just as I returned to my car(right next to it) taking my keys out, an idiot crashed right into it. Wrote off mine and 6 others in front of it(all parked cars). Guess what, he didnt have any insurance.

Just about to say that... someone crashed into my 2 month old Fabia vRS 18 months ago, and guess what.... not my fault and he wasn't insured. Luckily the insurance company found him at fault anyway and sent the bayliffs around, but no doubt by then he had returned from whichever country it was he came from and I lost my excess

You'll still get ed by the insurers, as come next year they will ask have you had any claims in the last 3 years, to which u say yes, one no fault claim, and they say, ah well the insurance will go up, as statisticlly once you have had a claim you are more likely to claim in the future...

I do feel your pain though mate..
