To answer your questions:

What is it? - No idea
What's it worth? - Whatever some chump on Ebay is willing to stump up (price dpends on your ability to concoct historical achievements etc)

I agree with the others though, make a soap box racer or put a karts running gear in it. Would be so much fun.

That is excellent. Get yourself down Toys R Us and B&Q. Buy one of those battery powered kid's jeeps and an angle grinder and you could have the cooooolest kids car ever!!!

It's not a Lotus 21. Looks more like a Lotus 30 or Lotus 40 to me (in the office at the moment, so I can't double check against reference books).

As to what it's worth...anybody's guess. My advice would be to either stick it on E-bay, or try tracking down current Lotus 30 owners to see if they are interested in it as a part of their car's development history.

Your best bet is to get in touch with the Lotus Club or try asking one of the Classic Car magazines like Practical Classics or Classic and Sportscar. One of their experts or readers will know.

i have no idea what it's worth - but i'd just get it really well painted and wall-mounted (oooh or as the base of some sort of coffee table affair) and 'use' it. i think it would be ace...!

I dont think its a faithful replica of any Lotus Type. The earlier similar shapes eg 19 or 23 all had filled rear arches to the bottom of the bodywork. The 30 and 40 are closeish, but they have a steep cut down at the back of the "doors" where it meets the rear three quarter. So its in the style of the Lotus sports cars of the early sixties, closest to the Type 30, but not any actual model. Therefore not worth anything as a model....but I guess there loads of us enthusiasts that would fight over it anyway due to the lotus heretage! Enjoy making it go!

I would have said a Lotus 30 or 40 too. I am sure it would be of interest to Lotus history enthusiasts as the 30 and 40 cars were driven by Jim Clark. Neither were terribly successful and really brought about the Lotus' withdrawl from competition "prototype" sports car racing.

The famous definition of the 40 was "a 30 with ten more problems".

I'd go for the coffee table approach, without destructing the model.
Looks absolutely fantastic!

Definitely Lotus 30 or 40 - it would also undoubtedly be of interest to a marque enthusiast. I would contact either Club Lotus or the HSCC. The easiest way to sell it is by auction and I would`ve thought that the specialists - Bonhams, H&H etc would be a far better route than ebay.

yeah - a post going up through that hole in the bottom would mean you could attach whatever top without it actually being attached to the model. do it do it do it!

It would look the part just hanging in my office too: the ceiling is about four metres high...

Make moulds and reproduce it!
