Just got back from 2 weeks in Florida (my surprise 40th birthday present from the Mrs. )

One of the most memorable moments was a dragster simulator we came across off the beaten track on the 192 at Kissimmee. It's a mocked up funny car on a rail powered by compressed air, when the lights go, you press the loud pedal and it's 0 - 110mph in TWO seconds, then back to 0 in another 2.

It actually took my breath away at the sheer acceleration. Made all the more real as we went to see the Top Fuel cars at Santa Pod the week before who do 0 - 100 in 0.8 seconds.

BIG respect to those guys How the hell do they cope with that G force and steer, brake, etc., all at once?

Here's a short video clip of the event - off a mobile so MP4 and not great quality, but it gives you the idea!

That looks like such a laugh, love the canned V8 soundtrack! I'd actually go to Alton Towers if they had something like that. Well maybe...

I think 0-60 in 2.5 seconds will not feel anywhere near as fast as 0-110 in 2 seconds!!! Mental!

Stealth at Thorpe Park does 0-80mph in 2.3 seconds AND you go up vertically then down vertically. Jolly good ride, that.

Looking at the lines of the blue Grand-Am I'd be inclined to say they are based on Pro-Stock cars.. Not quite floppers, but quick none-the-less!

On the track, they'd be seven second runners..

Video looks great VL.. I'll be watching that again later!

Aint acceleration great!!!! wish our dragster did 110 in 2 secs we only get to 60 in that time. yep there defo pro stocks and nasty fords at that.
there are quite a few of those rides getting across the states now, i quite fancy having a go in the ones powered by small block chevys running on l.p.g, id feel at home in one of those although not being totally in control would be odd.

Aye, i was sure when RITA opened the advertising was 4secs... but i was wrong...

Tho i dont like the ride - its shows how rushed the ride was once the planning permission for the wooden coaster that was planned for that area was refused. Both times i've ridden i havent queued for it... been with mates who have passed on a Parental pass to avoid the queue.

However fast RITA is, it's still a hell of a rush.
