It seems official now. TVR are definitley going to Le Mans. From reading Autosport this week they are taking two Tuscan R's and only ex Tuscan challenge drivers are in the frame for a seat.

Chamberlain motorsport are running the cars, drivers in the frame are Richard Stanton,, Steve Hyde and Richard Hay. The other car is open at the moment, but Bennno and I spotted Mike Jordan at the TVR factory last week.

Get this weeks Autosport there is a half page story about it.

they cant interupt the game shows, gardening and home improvment programs
Also it might not be politicaly correct to show programs that real people might actually like

Bet you won't find it in the newspapers either! I can't believe the cr@p coverage this event gets. How many british supports go to watch this classic race?

Eurosport show it though, get the Tivo ready!

So, to sum up, a bloke who has owned such reliable "classics" as a Lotus Elite and a Dutton is critiscising TVR....

This year nubbin. According to Autosport magazine the first car has already been shaken down and the second is being built. There are also plans to enter a Tuscan R in the American Le Mans series.

For the person who said that this will leak even more money from TVR, I would remind them that the Le Mans effort is run by Salisbury Motorsport, who ran the Morgans last year. It will be backed by the management of Hugh Chamberlain who has run numerous teams at Le Mans including Vipers. The factory are playing a part but it's essentially a private entry, not a factory entry.

TVR's legendry build and handling qualities are of course second to none One of the most over rated manufactures of middle of the road, uninspired and uninspiring cars that have ever left these isles. All personal opinion of course, but one that would take a huge amount of persuasion to change. I have never comtemplated spending huge amounts of cash to drive a badly nailed together component car when for far less money there is so much more on offer. As for TVR racing at Le Mans, I wish them well, but I fear that 24hrs will not provide enough time to complete the 1st lap!
Flash, get a sense of humour! Theres probably one with a TVR corporate logo somewhere

Fight Fight Fight......

mind you with a dutton you' know all about badly nailed together kit cars AH those were the days,,, in the mid eighties when Jago and Dutton were the biggest maufacturers and we each used to get 50-100 cars at the shows ( probably 10-20 between us now) and plenty of needle between us....

On the subject of Le Mans, hasnt the Cerb speed 6 completed 2 12 hour races and a 24 hour at spa, and finished well up. thats quite an achievment with one car. I doubt many manufactures have such a track record ( ok i know the 50s car managed about 1 lap but thats really a different company)

Hugh Chamberlain is also the Man... what he doesnt know about Le Mans aint worth knowing.

There isnt anyone else ( well maybe MR Joest) that i'd be happier to see running the team...

mind you we shouldnt celebrate too early as remember the ACO have to accept the entry and they have their own unique (French) way of doing this

cheers

Graham
( with 1980's Jago Samuri somewhere)
