They did something similar in Bristol a few years back but went one better by getting a crane in to lift the car up, painting underneath and then plonking it back down again.

Yes, but according to vonhosen, the Police can ticket you any time they like for blocking hte highway under the Highways Act. When there are no yeloow lines and you are not ticketed, this is due only to the kind hearted tolerance of the Police.

Agreed.

I was about to say that such was the level of intelligence of the primates usually employed by City Councils...

Kleenex. That's funny.

I was trying to think of something along those lines but some of us have to work rather than spending the whole day on PistonHeads. I barely get 3 hours PH'ing done during a typical day!

Yeah, this garden leave is tough. And there's no threat of being sacked for "inappropriate internet usage" either

Now, if only Jobserve was as interesting as Pistonheads

Depending on your "inappropriate internet usage", I don't think that the old trouble and strife would be too happy!

I'm not sure it's as straight forward it seems. If the road repair was only a short length then it should have been evident that it was a no parking area and that it was waiting for the line to be repainted. What the road workers should have done of course was use temporary no parking cones to keep the area clear for the line painters. It must be frustrating for the line painters to be given a painting job then find people have parked their cars and gone away for who knows how long. I think it used to be that you had to obey the sign rather than the line, so that if part of the line had worn away the sign still applied. Maybe that has changed.

Sorry to be a spoilspost, but the bloke who parked there was the pratt. "Thought it would be ok because there was a gap in the yellow lines where the road had been resurfaced?" - Moron.

He wasn`t ticketed because the lines had been painted. He should have got a ticket anyway, as it`s the sign which dictates the parking restrictions, not the yellow line.

And whats this bollox about his tyres now being "unroadworthy"?

Err TSGRD? If the line has any break it's not legally enforceable as the line is part of the signeage. "They" don't want you to know that, but it's 100% true.
