Psycho numpty forced me off the road
Discussion
I don't even know where to begin - but some stupid b**ch deliberately tried, and succeeded, to make me crash tonight...
I was driving home from work in the Tuscan and as it was dark and rainy and the roads were busy I was taking it easy, just going with the flow of the traffic. Next thing I know the car in front slams on the anchors for no apparent reason and starts reversing towards me! Being the good boy that I try to be I'd left plenty of room to allow for numpty behaviour and as we'd just passed a turning I assumed that's all it was - extreme numptyism. But things were about to take a much more unbelievable twist.
I'd already decided it would be better not to have someone driving so erratically in front of me, so once we got to a clear straight section of road I overtook. At this point the driver of the car decided to swerve into me as I passed them! Luckily I got past then quickly enough for it not to be a danger to me. However this person then decided to come screaming up behind me at a set of temporary traffic light with their full beams on and sit inches from the rear of my car. At this point I must admit my judgement could have been better, but I'd had enough - so I got out the car and went over to their's to ask what their problem was. The woman driving then said I'd been following her with my full beams on flashing her all the way! OK, the Tuscan's headlights are bright, but they ain't full beam bright and as for the flashing, any idiot should recognise that driving down a poorly surnfaced country road makes cars bounce a bit... She then sped off as I was getting back in the car, but slowed down once I came up behind her again - NOT tail-gating her I have to say! This time when I pulled out to overtake her she swerved very deliberately into the side of the car forcing me right over to the other side of the road, nearly hitting the kerb on the other side, and at that point the back end went it's own merry way and left me struggling to control to car as it skidded and fishtailed across the road. Just as I managed to get the car back under control, having narrowly avoided hitting any other cars, the back when caught the kerb, smashing the nearside rear wheel and breaking two spokes in the process.
I'm home now, having had the car recovered by the AA, but still very shaken, upset and bewildered.
I'm a pretty jaded and cynical kinda guy when it comes to human nature, but I'm still in shock that someone could show such deliberate malice and stupidiy, and total lack of regard for the consequences of their actions. FFS - the woman had her kids in the back of the car! This goes waaaay beyond mere numpyism (that's often simple thoughlessness) - this was several deliberately dangerous and reckless acts by someone who was pissed off that I dazzled them! Surely then it would be better if I was not behind them then!
End result of all this: my birthday ruined
, at least the price of buying and having fitted a new 18" spider alloy (I hope to god that's all the damage that was done) and all the messing round this will cause.
And the worst bit? Knowing that this stupid, malicious bitch will be telling all her mates about the 'road rage psycho who tried to kill her', and believing every one of the lies she utters .
I admit, my judgement should have been better - I should have read the first warning signs that the driver wasn't entirely sane, and I know I'm not the most experienced behind the wheel of a Tuscan, but I figured it would be better to get past her rather that be stuck behind someone driving so unpredicably.
At the end of the day I know this seems like just another one of those 'a fox ran out in front of the car/there was a diesel spill on the road etc' crash stories, but this woman was clearly unfit to be anywhere near a car if she thought that that kind of behaviour was justifiable or could in any way be excused.
Most upsetting of all - the wife was in the passenger seat and we could have both been killed over something so senseless because of an idiot driver's spiteful behaviour.
What would you have done?

Thanks nubbin (tea and sympathy always help
), but unfortunately we didn't get the licence plate. All I know is that it was a silver Skoda Felicia. Didn't bother calling the police as I suspect there would be very little they could do even if I had her number - it would be my word against hers.

Me and the missus have found that describing to each other the novel ways in which we would torture someone like this is very therapeutic - we always try to out-do each other of course...

Crikey.
Sorry to hear about this - and being your birthday and all. If I was in that situation I would be reporting all that you said to the Police. That kind of deliberate behaviour is at least as dangerous as speeding and if you have her registration you should report it ASAP. Even if they do little/nothing about it - you at have had some satisfaction in getting her details logged.
Its a sad fact that we all come up against numpties like this from time to time. Mostly we can get by without further incident and a few well chosen swear words. This sounds altogether much more serious and I can understand you both being badly shaken. It also takes some of the shine off ownership of a nice car. Get down to the station - after all she has technically still caused an accident. Don't suppose there were any other witnesses other than your wife were there?

I think we all have a story similar to your to tell our grand children when the time comes...
I guess you should comfort yourself that one of these days the bi**h will come across someone not so in control of the situation and will crash her own car and hopefully do some major damage to herself or her passengers...
I have no patience for drivers like that! Statistically looking she will pay for her behaviour sooner or later... They always do...
Hope you feel better tomorrow!

Ouch! I've been aware for quite a while that the hard suspension, projector lamps and "lack of adjustment" on the Tuscan result in me seemingly flashing other cars. I've had a few oncoming cars flash me back, and one lady who I was following stopped, got out, and asked me if there was something wrong as was I flashing her ?
I was very emabarrased but I don't think there's much you can do about it except chill. I wouldn't expect someone to start reversing into me!!!! At least you're all alright (could have been a lot worse it you think about it).

Thanks everyone so far
The problem with reporting it is that with all the anti fast car bias there is these days I'm worried I'm going to seen as the one in the wrong regardless of the other driver's behaviour - after all I was driving a high performance car, I ended up skidding out of control and no one else got hurt.
Maybe I should say a prayer at the Oracle of Madcop

Coulda been worse - the last time I stopped to speak to someone after his moronic road behaviour, he charged his car at me, and I ended up carried down the road on his bonnet, clinging to hos windscreen wipers! Ended up in court for it, mind....
Still, look on the bright side - if this represents new numptie behaviour, at least we now know where the battle lines are being drawn....

was it a big ding? might be a good idea to get the geometry checked before you go mental at Brunters, glad to hear Tracy is a PHer
Sorry to hear about that mate, sounds like the wrong person suffered the misfortune.
It's worrying to think that no matter how well we drive our pride and joys, there's alway someone out there to fcuk it up for us all.
BTW, did the woman stop after you spun?

Judas sorry to hear about this appalling incident. Report it to the police immediately, even if it is only your wheel damaged.
Prior to the build up do you know if you passed any traffic cameras? If she had kids in the car the chances are she is local. How many silver felicias are there in the area etc, the police can do this research you can't.
This bitch needs to be taken off the road, before she sends the next victim spinning into a group of kids at a bus stop.
