A "classic" V8 - What shall I get?
Discussion
I loved the sound of my Chimaera V8, but alas she had to go.
Now, however I am in position to buy another weekend car. The only criteria are:
V8 - I loved the sound and decent performance
£20k or less
semi-practical (I could get a MTB in my TVR boot!)
Soft-top if possible.
Slightly unusual - I did like the rarety of the TVR
Does anyone have any ideas?

Why did you get rid of it - you need another.

I like the idea of a Cobra (You mean an AC Cobra?)
A Marcos is tempting too, I've been looking at them. American Muscle - now there's an idea. Do you have suggestions where I can research American cars easily?

I had one and it was the best car I've ever owned. Plus, it'll last forever, every single nut and bolt on the thing is currently still manufactured under licence from GM and will be until the end of time. Parts are cheaper than those for a Fiesta (if you're prepared to ship them over), insurance is stupidly cheap (I paid £380 fully comp for 25 year old, no NCB, parked in street). Get way more attention than a TVR and I'm sorry, no Rover V8 can compare with a Chevy (or old school Ford V8) when it comes to sound.

I bought a 1967 Mustang in October (5.0 V8). Convertibles are usually available for about £15,000, coupes at around £10,000 and fastbacks (like in Bullitt / Gone in 60 Seconds) for £20,000 upwards. There are various companies in the UK that import them (and other Americana) - I got mine from www.californiaclassicimports.com
