Discussion
Good Evening,
My son has locked the keys for my 4 day old Audi RS4 in the boot and we are 200 miles from home (and spare set of keys) RAC cant get in without damage and im just wondering if anyone on here from either side of the legal fence can get me in?
I think im well known enough on here to be trusted, im in an internet cafe thing so email replies are no good, can you please phone me on 07967 980190 with any genuine advice?
MODS if this isnt the best place for this can you put it somewhere where it will get most attention?
PLEASE help, I need to get home!
Thanks

happened to me in my mgf - keys locked in boot. no way in - in the end the AA man said he could not do it without damage, so took me to local mg dealer, who cut me a key off the vin no.
it did cost a bit for a new key , but rather that than damage the car.
i know this is no help to you now
as the dealers are all closed, but if worst came to worst then you could go to B+B and dealer in the morning. i'd didn't want to damage my car and it was no-where near as nice as an rs4.
i hope you come right.

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELLPHONE COULD DO !!
There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for
survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to
establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112
can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call
someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person
at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on
their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your
keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away,
and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you
can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

Subject: Hidden Battery power
Imagine your cell battery is very low , you are expecting an important call
and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve
battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with
this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This
reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get
stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They
will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the
SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.
You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever
stole it can't use/sell it either.
If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile
phones.

Many years ago an AA man made a right mess of my fiesta that i'd locked myself out of many miles from home. He had a proper breaking kit, but ended up knackering seals and chipping paint! Friendly ford dealer cut my a door key in the end. Only works for doors but got me into boot. You in yet?!

When the RAC say they cant get in without damage is it just that they are asking you to sign a disclaimer or have they actually said that they need to damage the car to gain access? The reason I ask is you will always get asked to sign a disclaimer even if the patrol is 100% sure he can do it without causing damage. Arse covering excercise really. If the patrol cannot get in the RAC should have a list of local 24hr locksmiths or in the worst case recover the vehicle. Most cars have a way to get in if your in the know with a few rare exceptions like an MGF with keys in boot as stated here.
Taken from the Audi UK website it seems if an Audi allroad tech is not availible you will get assistance from the RAC or contractor!
"If you are stranded on a public highway (or other accessible road or area to which the public has the right of access) because the vehicles has had a breakdown, we will arrange for an Audi Dedicated Technican, or a RAC patrol or roadside contractor to assist you."

Just dont do what I saw two guys do last week, brand new C-Class with I assume keys in boot, they went and got a jack out of another car and absolutely destroy one of the back lights punching a head sized hole through it into the boot!
Strangest thing was the alarm never went off, reassuring......!
