A friend is considering importing a 2003 Holden Monaro 5.7 V8.

Does anyone have experience of this car, or give advice on it?

I hope you guys can give some feedback as I'm always singing the Pistonhead crew.

Thanks in advance

Rich

Try asking that question in the HSV forum (for Aussie V8 owners)

HSV = Holden Special Vehicles

Not sure what it's based on.

Maybe he's getting it via Vauahall dealership

I seem to recall JC doing a review of this car for Top Gear (old school version I think) IIRC he seemed to like it quite a lot.

Not entirely helpful I'm afraid!

Mine doesn't have NOS - although there are a few around with blue-bottle throttles fitted....slightly more worrying is the proliferation of supercharger kits which take them up to the 550bhp level.

Its kinda a HSV coupe and thus comes with a LS1 V8 which can be fidled with quite nicely. A tiny bit lardy perhaps. Brmmmm

Not as lardy as you might think....around the 1500kg level.

1500 is quite heavy for sportyness. Not exactly a superlight

Comparable with the M3, lighter than the M5 - not too many cars around at this sort of power level that are lighter.
