and lots of them,

every time i've driven home this week on the M62 they splat into the windscreen like heavy rain!, smearing their innards all over the glass.
Used all my screen wash trying to 'wiper' them off.

and the front of the car is just carpetted in them. including - I know - the numberplate, but it's still quite readable.

never known as many flies. Must be all this global warming! :-)

Has anyone else noticed a marked increase in the number of mosquitos this year?

Due to the warm winter which didn't kill them off, followed by the wet summer - prime breeding time.

Not just mozzies, plenty of crane flies and other pointless creatures too irked

Is this cause insects/mosquitos etc breed in still water and with all the rain we've had there's been a lot of it around?

YES!! Shed loads of them keep coming onto our house and bedroom - but for some reason they're not biting, or we're not noticing. I do remember someone saying it's only females that bite, and at certain times, but I'm still surprised.

Loads of big house flies and blue bottles too. Horrible things.

Hatched from a dead bird in your roof?

Nope. They keep flying in from the garden. (I work from home and have the back doors open on a day like today). There just seems to be a lot more of them this year. I am forever having to get them out with a rolled up newspaper.
