I have to admit losing control of my Leon today resulting in a spin on the roof and a slide of about 6 carlengths and as a very experienced driver. (been driving since I was 15)I was gutted to say the least.
It happened as I approached a bend. There weren't any speed limit signs and I was going as fast as I could.
As I turned the bend the front end was stuck like glue to the road while the back end just went really quickly.
It spun very fast and rolled at the same time. It was a shock at first.
I had been trying to overtake another car so was perhaps concentrating on the car instead of the bend.
Fortunately it stopped wheels down.
I managed to get the car back on the road and get it going again and there doesn't appear to be any real damage.

I have some pics which I will post later.

Commiserations. At least no one was hurt, which is the main thing.

I don't mean to be ghoulish about it, but I will be intrigued to see the pictures, and /or can you explain just how you managed to roll, spin on the roof and not do any serious damage???

Could there have been another problem that caused the crash? It sounds vaguely similar to a time I lost control of a car, when a suspension arm had come loose.

So you were going flat-out towards a bend? No wonder the poor car never went round it! rolleyes

Ey?

Sounds like you might well have been driving too quickly, and without due care though...a very odd post.

Y'see that just about sums up why the whole traffic policy sucks.

"speed kills?" No bad driving kills of which inappropriate use of speed is just one aspect.

Perhaps if you ask very nicely one of our resident police trained persuit drivers would be kind enough to give up a day of their time to give you some advanced driving tuition. rolleyes Good job no one was coming the other way when you were on your roof.

Ah leave off a bit. He's just had what sounds like a pretty nasty crash. I've come out with tons of silly babble after much lesser bumps than that. You do when you're shaken up.

It's very easily done, and lessons are always learned from it. No need to jump on him for what he's already admitted he did wrong.

Maybe if plod would like to investigate the accident, they could use this thread as evidence?

Instant Karma for introducing this contentious thread?; http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t...wink and slightly ironic. But the main thing is you're still in one piece and big enough to admit to the error of judgement and control. smile

If there is any truth in the post (which I seriously doubt) it will have been on a track, not a public road.

I bet it was on a computer racing game of some description.

Either that or he's lost the plot.

'been driving since I was 15' ?

By the way I thought this bloke was a racing driver, whose car control was therefore god-like?
