YouTube Speeder Hunted
Police study footage of rider hitting 189mph on UK road
Police are hunting a motorbike rider who appears to hit 189mph on a UK road in a YouTube video.
It is said to be the fastest speed ever recorded on a British road and then posted on YouTube.
The video shows the rider negotiating a roundabout before making a high speed run.
The clip is called ‘first run on cam’ and in the description the rider says the ZX10r was spinning its wheel at 180mph.
Some internet users have questioned whether the bike’s speedo may be out, noting it takes under six seconds to go from around 100mph to 189mph.
The video has now been viewed almost 15,000 times, most of which are probably by police trying to identify the rider.
See the footage here.
Discussion
thought I recognised the road.....its the dual section from the M5 Jct11 before you go up the hill towards the Airballoon pub(??) and Birdlip.
Very busy road to be doing that sort of speed!! Although it seems like it was only in short bursts, still there's little reaction time if one of those lorries decides to pull out....
Cant see that they can identify the rider from that clip.

surely that can't be real, or his speedo is indeed out?
He gets from 100-160 in the blink of an eye. But then I know nothing about bikes
looks to me like the wheels get there in a blink of an eye, the bike was going a fair bit slower i reckonHe gets from 100-160 in the blink of an eye. But then I know nothing about bikes

bearing in mind a motogp engine make about 200bhp, 450 from a zx-10 seems a wee bit hopeful.
But my CBR6 can get from 60-140 in about 4 seconds (when its working).
Bikes go like shit off a shovel.
Oh, and this guys a tit. Keep that sort of speed for the track...
I'm not an angel myself (9 points will agree), but that just takes the biscuit!

But this video is not proof of any kind.
It is a digital video which can be modified. - I could take a video of any one of the cars on pistonheads tv and with admittedly a lot of work *but still do-able* make it look like you were doing 220 mph- espically on a digital speedo.
It does not identify the rider.
The maker of the video could simply claim the speedo was modified and the video speeded up for publicity purposes. Digital video is very easy to speed up.

I thought that apart from the high speed he rode very carefully. He caned it for about a mile and that bike looked immense doing those speeds. If he crashes he is only going to kill himself anyway.
Uh oh! Just seen his other posts on YT, you'd never miss that bike. He's in trouble......

He takes it very carefully round the roundabout and changes up gears at very low revs until he gets to 100mph ish.
looking at that supposedly 450bhp bike I imagine thats how you would need to ride that thing.
On a normal bike if you were doing a high speed run for a laugh I would have attacked that roundabout harder and accelerated off it quicker in order to ge the top speed.
hell id have gone round that roundabout faster on my way to work
