Having read through the classifieds and imagining my lottery ticket has come in with a £50k win I have been wondering what car I might buy.

Ferrari 360 Modena's (manual) are now around £50k as are Ferrari 550 Marranello's plus there is always the Porsche 996 Turbo or a 997 C2S.

So what would you lot buy and why ?

Wouldn't touch a 550. Unreliable tosh. Ugly, too. Driven by homos.

I've got to say I'd spend 30-40k on something like an RS6, V70R or M3/5/6, and then spend 10k on a track car to thrash.

Comfort and the ability to scare the bejeesus out of you...

I was starting to imagine that with say a silver 360 Ferrari I might look younger and less repulsive...

I guess I could pretend I was a rock god or fund manager and drive a Bentley Arnage

Cayman S for everyday
Caterham for trackdays
Ducati 999 for Sundays

should be able to get all that in budget I reckon!

Browsing up the suggestions, I'm sure he used the phrase "dream car". Who, under the age of 45, has a poster of an Audi estate on their bedroom wall?

There is that. Plus my father (in his sixties) has a current-shape RS4 Avant, which is always chockful of luggage and dogs, so it's hard to see it as a "dream car", however excellent it is.

Almost my thoughts, although I'd drop the ducati and get something small (at least one car with four seats would be a good decision) fun and cheap to run for everyday, promote the cayman to fundays and keep the caterham for trackdays. Although a decent `S' will be quite hard to get hold of leaving enough budget for the other 2.

Bikes are not my thing - although each to their own.

This is all based on my current 25Kpa mileage, if you do less spend a little more on the cayman and use it for everyday....

For 50k or cars near that region. Im happy with my 335d and after a re-map it will be one of the best REAL-world performace cars going. Wont beat everything but for an overall package pretty impressive.

For 50k tho, id go for a RS4 or a used M5/M6. Now there performance per £ bargain at the moment. A car that will beat Lambo Gallardos and stay with F430's (just about) for udner 50k for an M6 and under 40k for a M5.

I just bought a 996 Turbo with manthey KW suspension and PCCB brakes and DMS Exhaust and Remap and its a PROPER PROPER tool.

Thoroughly reccomended and an amazingly usable real world fast car.

I've got some other pretty cool cars as well so don't know if that effects things...

I'm going to have a look at new M3 droptop and GTR as well when they hit the dealerships... They are around £50k as well obviously

I think I'd get the best S4s Esprit I could find and use the rest of the cash to run it, I couldn't get my head round spending that kind of cash on a car though!!

Yeah I was looking in the classifieds for them £39,000 - £46,000 not bad as such for what it is and how much they used to be maybe when I'm 25 I'll think about it.
