Are there any european hotel recommendations anywhere?

PLanning trip down to Italy in early summer 
and looking for ideas for stopover hotels along the way - ideally not the usual Novotels, and Ibis etc. There are some on the Alpineroads website but they are primarily for bikers. There seems nowhere to post them on Pistonheads or have I missed it? 
My point was that we should have a specific part of the site for these rather than having to wade through general posts.
