Am looking at twin cab pickups for Company Car tax efficiency. I know they need to have a load capacity of over 1045Kg if I want to have the hard top on the back.

Before I go trawling through all the brochures - does anyone know, which are the best performing 0-60 and top speed wise. It's unlikely to be loaded very often.

Thanks,

Steve

I can't answer the question, but I respect the intention!

HSV Maloo is that?

F150 Lightning or a Dodge Ram RT/10 is what you want...

Both quicker than a Testarossa to 60...

Mitsubishi is the best i think... However be careful as i think they are changing the tax laws soon to stop this little loop hole .

Or if in London, get a 9 seater (Landie Defender 110) and avoid the congestion charge instead. Might work out as more of a saving.

Thanks Guys... London CC isn't a problem for me as I usually train it down. As for the Dodge and the F150 I just wish I could pick up a RHD one

Our MD has a Landrover Discovery "Van" for the same tax break. There are no back seats and the windows are blacked out. From the outside it looks just like the car, but with heavily tinted windows. His is diesel, but I suppose they would do a V8...?

If you fancy something truly PH go for a '60s/'70s 'Muscle pickup' like a Chevrolet El Camino SS or a GMC Greyhound Sprint. Muscle car looks, but a huge flatbed where the boot's supposed to be

Of the current 'normal' UK bunch, I would go for the Mitsubishi L200.

One saved my life a couple of years back on my return trip from Le Mans. French lorry driver decided he couldn't stop in time for the traffic jam he was approaching and chose our lane. I had enough time to say What the F! Did a lane change on to the grass verge and round the truck, my mate in his scooby following us nearly hit him too. The guy in the car following saw 9inches of air under the left hand wheels of the Mitsubishi!!!!

Great vehicles and have good road presence....

GMC Cyclone/Typhoon?

Not sure if they're available over here though, but worth the crack if they are!

My brother in law ordered a double cab 5.7 V8 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Hemi today, after a lot of chasing and ringing friends in the USA, it was hardly worth the effort of buying direct himself so he went through a UK importer and paid a couple of grand extra. He's getting a 'Snug Top' top over here from Darlington, a high level top (same as the cab height)

It supposed to 0-60 in 7.2 seconds which will see most cars, for a comprassion his current new shaped diesel Disco (automatic)does 17 seconds. I can you some contact details if you wish

I've been in a friends 2003 Ram and was very impressed with the acceleration considering it had 6 large adults in it at the time

Mate you beat me to it!
They are fantastic. Some of the blokes I worked with had them as their work trucks but they have Corvette engines!

HSV Maloo is the top (as someone has already said).

I love me ute's I do!
I'd have an old Chevy El Camino SS.
Not fantastically quick but a beaut ute!

I notice everyboady has suggested the goo uns already.
No mention of the Ford Falcon XR8 Ute yet though. Its the rival to the HSV Maloo. A Ford 5.0 V8.
They sound fantastic too.

I believe it is anything with 9 seats or more (aimed at minibuses). However, your standard license does not cover driving vehicles with more than 8 seats.
