Can't say I have, I don't think I'd trust myself to do that distance without falling asleep - was that non-stop without any breaks? How much redbull, coffee etc did you drink?

Having checked your profile, at least you have some nice metal to do that in hehe

which car you do that in??

Last time i did something as stupid as that, it was in a Leyland LDV from West London to central Oslo, non-stop (except for channel tunnel and ferry from Frederekshaven to Gothenberg.

as i recall that took me 22 hours, one slab of redbull and 60 smokes!!!

Yeah, a few years ago I drove St Tropez -> Liverpool non-stop in a VX220.

40 degree heat, broken exhaust (so no conversation possible with the passenger), and no air conditioning - tired can't describe how I felt by the end smile

Funnily enough, the Cayenne appeared the vehicle of choice for storming down to S-o-France at that time too.

Not done anything comparable not least because a friend was involved in an accident on the A1 some years ago. The other driver had driven back from the south of France non stop. The most likely explanation is that he fell asleep at the wheel but nobody knows for sure because he and my friend died at the scene. There were no witnesses.

Call me old fashioned, but I can honestly say that driving that distance non-stop is nothing to boast about - I'm only glad I wasn't on the road the same time as you. Like Siscar, I have (regretably) acquaintences who were wiped out by a driver who feel asleep after driving just 250 miles non stop.

That's one hell of a trip. I'd love to do Yorkshire-Côte d'Azur some day, preferably in a Testarossa or a 512TR hehe

ETA: I should point-out, given the last two posts, that my plan would involve driving to Hull and getting an overnight ferry during which I would sleep and stopping off at Reims for a second dose of sleep the next night.

Funny old world...Last week I drove my AK replica Cobra from Trento, Italy to P'Bourgh for annual MOT. Round trip 2,292.6 miles, including detour.
Used over 600 ltrs fuel (for 13-14 MPG!)
All this in three days for one bloody MOT ticket..
As I said..."Funny old world."

A mate of mine drove from weston super Mare to Bansko Bulgaria with a three hour break.
It took him 31 hours including the 3 hour sleep. He set off at 5 am Sunday morning, and arrived about midday Monday. It's a shade over 1800 miles ! He averaged about 70 mph, despite being slowed down seriously passing through Serbia.

This tread is amazing tired driving is as dangerous as drink driving.

Would people be boasting about drinking 8 pints of larger then downing a bottle of scotch before driving.

I can sympathis, did Reigate to Antibes non stop in a Mercedes G55 Kompressor filled to the gunnels with paintings and furniture... Had to balance crusing speed with fuel consumption!

Did it in 13.5 hours door to door... biggrin

Never again though, I was shattered but mainly because I made the mistake of eating a sandwich from a service station about 2/3rds the way down and it started to 'kick in' towards the end. I was ill for the rest of the week!

It is extremely dangerous. Longest I've done is an eight hour drive but it was in Australia, it was pretty much a dead straight road and I saw about five other cars on the entire journey. And I felt fine. If you were yawning, you really should have stopped.

It's odd that there's no campaign publicising driving while tired in the UK, when surely it is to blame for a significant number of accidents (probably more than speeding...).
