Road Warriors...
Discussion
I'm completely f
king sick to death of Road Warriors. You know the ones, the holier than thou "I'm smarter than you" t
ts who have completely deluded ideas of how to manage anything other than the bubble of road 5 metres in front of their vehicles.
Type 1: MLM's
Middle Lane Morons, also known as Crabs on the Ballsack of society. Plodding along in the "middle" lane because it's "safest", unmoving and unflinching in a similar fashion to the aforementioned genital infestation. I haven't travelled any distance on a motorway in a while, so the sighting reticules of my RPG of hate are not aimed directly at these thickos today, they are included in this list of Road Warriors for the sake of completeness, since they are firmly of the opinion that they are in the right and you, the one who's forced to plod past whilst having your piss boiled in Lane 3, are wrong.
Type 2: Vera and Phillip
40mph in an NSL is obviously perfectly acceptable if that's what you, as a conscientious driver, are wanting to do. Perhaps you are relaxing today and don't want to be rushed. That's fine. But for f
ks sake get out of the way if someone is approaching from behind faster than you and wants to make progress. Keep left, allow the driver behind to see the road in front, and don't even f
king DARE to flash the overtaker because they are "a hooligan", or whatever other misguided notion you have in your feeble grey matter. This applies especially to Caravan and Motorhome drivers. I have nothing against caravans or motorhomes per sé, but for the love of whatever god you beleive in be mindful of the fact that if you are driving one you are going to be moving a lot slower than everyone else. Help them out.
Type 3: Captain Straddle
Typically HCV drivers with a chip on their shoulder. The situation: when faced with a queue of traffic due to merging lanes on a 2-3 lane carriageway, this Road Warrior will take it upon themselves to block the outer lanes to stop overtaking traffic from "jumping in" at the last second. There's just one problem with this action. EVERYONE BEHIND YOU STILL HAS TO MERGE, NUMBNUTS! YOU'RE JUST MOVING THE PROBLEM BACKWARDS AND CAUSING MORE PROBLEMS! It's especially annoying in HCV drivers, who basically cause the problem anyway by following within a foot of each other/any traffic at low speed, meaning nobody can merge anywhere unless they come to a standstill. These drivers are currently my bugbear, as they block up my local dual carriageway which has lane closures throughout the day for roadworks.
The solution is obviously roadside culling of the stupid, administered only by me and other proven PHers.

7/10, good first post, needs more
though
I've just been out for a mini hoon to get out of the house and the two issues I had/have, were:
1). My council tax. Why isn't it being spent on road surfaces. I could feel my car practically shedding parts
2). It's not foggy anymore, that was this morning. Turn your stupid foglights off.

Um, isn't that the point? The fact that the merging takes place BEHIND the HGV driver - therefore improving his progress? ...EVERYONE BEHIND YOU STILL HAS TO MERGE...
Just a thought...
Besides when was the last time you heard an HGV driver say something like i was stuck behind a car today and couldn't get past because he was nose to tail with another car infront of him.

To be fair the middle lane is more or less the car lane. The only reason to go into the 1st lane is when you need the next junction, otherwise you'll be stuck doing 50-60mph between two lorries.
Not if you drive properly.A particular hate of mine - the s
t driver.
Following a car today (corsa, woman driver, baby on board sticker) on a busy A road with a left turn to enter my village. Woman indicates (literally) about 800 yards before the junction, slows down to about 20mph for this entire period as if she was brinnging a ferry into dock. Not only this but while indicating left for this particular turning she drove straight past 2 other turning (one street and one industrial estate) - anyone pulling out with her arroaching at that speed with her indicators on would have pulled out on her.
Where do these people learn to drive? I can understand some 'bad' habits creeping in such as such as crossing your hands on the wheel, taking your hands off the wheel, speeding etc. But not indicating until your turnoff is the next one is something basic they teach you - why would you suddenly stop doing it? Its like one day getting in your car and driving on the opposite side of the road!

Another type, although much like the middle lane hogger, are the stupid terwats that exit a roundabout on to an empty dual carriageway and stick in the right hand lane. If that's not bad enough, when the terwats get to the next roundabout they go straight on, again in the right hand lane.
I'd like to stop them, slap 'em around the face with an old trout and shout GET IN F*CKING LEFT HAND LANE YOU STUPID F*CKING MORON!!
Instead I normally draw up along side slowly give them a 'vacant look' and then trundle slowly on by...

.
.Only to be blinded by their main beam that they dont know they've got on
CANTS!!

I've got to say:
If I am going faster than lorries I will be in the middle lane, I don't care if there is 200 yds between them if I am doing 70 or so I am in middle lane. Sadly I often come up on someone going slower or the same speed as lorries in front of me so I move to the outside lane to overtake.
Seriously there is no point in being in lane one during normal traffic conditions as I'd be changing lanes every 7 seconds or so, I spend most of my time between middle and outside lanes and only use lane 1 to join and leave the motorway.
ZR1cliff: Are you saying that to show them how bad a driver you consider them to be you undertake them?

ks on that - my ALPINA had ridiculously low profile tyres, and with the exception of a particularly s
tty part of the M25, I never had a problem with tramlining on the M6, M5, M4, M1, M27, M3, M62....i hate fog lighters with a passion.
granted im still only a learner but im going at driving at night to get used to it. guy behind me for maybe 5 miles right up my chuff so i could only just see his grille, then he'd drop back and i get blinded by full beam, then when the twunt drops back a bit further its fog lamps, really pisses me off, as does people who dont go to dipped beam when they pass you.
i made one slip in my drive last night and due to changing down before a corner didnt have time to go to dipped beam before a car came round. so as i go to dip he gets agro'd with me having full beam and sticks his on to retaliate. only difference being im using philips blue visions, he'g in a BMW with HID, all i could see for a few seconds was sweet FA with the odd sensation of burning retina's.
yeah granted i blinded him breifly but still mine was accidental (not that he knew)

Lane 1- your target lane at all timesLane 2- overtaking lane
Lane 3-overtaking lane
People who have this 'the middle lane is the car lane' attitude are a big problem. Move to lane 1 whenever possible.
Who knows all the extra effort and planning required might even make you a better and safer driver.

A tricky one this as it sounds like she was lost. And looking for the correct street.

If anyone pulled out from either of the two roads she went past it would be there fault. The highway code does say dont pull out until the car approaching the junction turns in.

That doesn't change the fact that it could've easily been avoided with a little thought.Would "Well it wasn't my fault" be much consolation to you if you were stood by the side of the road trying to piece your car back together?
The best first post ever! well done!
I really hate people driving right up your arses - USUALLY white van drivers.
I just let the pricks go past, would rather them annoy someone else.
Other types I hate - 40 mph'ers in NSL areas. To be fair, my favourite spirited driving country, the Yorkshire dales, people generally let you by if you want to go quickly.

In my truck I drive at 40 mph on a NSL.....because that is the speed limit for my class of vehicle!!

This is precisely the argument of the Middle Lane Moron....I drive the M4 3/4 times a week and drive at around 65-70 most of the time, and guess what, the majority of that time is spent in lane one.If I am going faster than lorries I will be in the middle lane, I don't care if there is 200 yds between them if I am doing 70 or so I am in middle lane. Yes, i have to overtake lorries doing 56, so what? Its no big deal, use your mirrors, judge your closing speed and plan your overtake and then pull back in. Its easy.
The real pain in the ass is when I have to judge the closing speed of the fecking idiot who has been in the middle for the last 3 miles....
Learn to drive properly on the motorways or dont bother using them at all..
On my way home tonight in the new S4 it gave me the oppoutunity to experience another type of road warrior a great deal.
The "I Hate overtakers" Warrior. Two situations.
I'm in a nsl A-road straight section, it's pitch black, the car in front is doing 50mph plenty of room to overtake so I dart past. Halfway through the manouver though a car coming the other way (not to close) decides to high beam me for overtaking. This blinds me, the car next to me and the car behind me... How f
king stupid and dangerous can people be?
Further on the drive in another nsl section down a hill the car in front is doing 40mph, I know the road so I hold back gather speed and catch him just as we enter a straight section so the overtaking manouver is as quick as possible. The other car though decides to slam on the brakes as I catch him, blast the horn and high beam me for the next 30 seconds.
What the f
k is wrong with these people? I was not breaking the law or doing anything dangerouse.
