Bloody taxi drivers.

Last night i was dealing with a woman who had collapsed, had the police car parked up, and am ambulance in the road. Blue lights going, looked like disco. Bloody taxi driver tries to drive along the pavement to pass the ambulance. Told him to turn round and find an alternative route. He then says to me ' Well if you just move the ambulance. I've got a job to do'. wker! It's as if their fare is more important than someone's life.

Why do you think you are above the law and can do what you want. Yes, i am aware you don't have to wear a seat belt, but did you also lose the ability to indicate, give way or generally drive in a sensible road. Is is required trait for the job, or do you get it included with your licence?

I understand you are not all like this, just every one i have met!

I fear there'll be little sympathy here; the impact on drivers of extended/extensive road closures for the most random of matters is getting completely out of hand.

Was not a road closure - just blocked while we got a very poorly woman out of her house and into an ambulance. whole thing lasted 15-20 mins tops. Was a minor road on a housing estate so not as though it was busy or there was no other way round.

Was a mini cab. Not many black cabs where i work, and this was 1030pm so not exactly a busy street.

Surely you could have ticketed him for driving along the pavement? Then searched the cab. Then done a full licence, tax, tyres check etc. That normally takes 15-20 minutes.

Or given him the option to F.R.O. (while making a note of his number in your book for future reference... hehe )

Surely the title should be "wker drivers" as I've seen examples of ttty driving in most types of vehicles!

If there's space for cars to go past if the ambulance was moved and it will not affect the operations of the ambulance or safety of the crew, then why not move it?

It's sad etc seeing someone collapsing/dying/* but why inconvinience others if it's not necessary?

Imagine one of your family requiring treatment by ambulance. How would you feel if someone came to the paramedic and said ' scuse me mate. Do you mind stopping treating this person and move the ambulance so the bloke in the taxi can get his fare?'

what do you think would be the appropriate response. Not as though it was closing the m25 for half a day!

I don't think anyone is suggesting that.. However, couldn't they just park normally? Unless it's a single lane road, there is no need to block the road, surely? I understand where you are coming from, I'm just wondering why you feel the need to block the road.

As I said, not affect the operations of the ambulance or the safety of the crew.

I'm sure Kingrich will be along in a while, but speaking as a taxi company owner, I would expect my drivers to be courteous and find another route. In fact if one of my drivers had acted in this way, he/she would be on the carpet.

Not all cabbies are scum smile

This was typical estate road. Two way, with cars parked along one side, meaning it was a case of ambulance stops outside location, blocking road, or drives 100+ yards down the road to find a space. Priorities and all that.

And he DOES have to wear a seat belt...

Methinks there's summat amiss with this story...
