Ferry / Eurotunnel cost!!!
Discussion
Hi all,
I want to return to Blightly for xmas, but looking at the prices for a ferry or euro tunnel its at least 250 pounds - this seems a bit high really by the time I add fuel tolls etc. Has anyone got any idea's about doing this cheaper either by another route or promo's. I'm not sure the one day vist thing works anymore?
cheers for all you wisdom!

Simple. Do 2 days returns booked on different credit cards with different car registrations. Pick up the 'remote' tickets on departure. I do this every time. They don't check and don't charge you later if you're not doing this too often. (Did it for the last Folembray trip for instance.)
After Christmas there will probably be lots of day return offers for British pissheads stocking up and probably beforehand you will see Christmas shopping offers for Frenchies wanting to go to the malls at Ashford.

Hi mate,
hee hee... i used my switch card and booked over the telephone, i asked for a overnight return from calais to dover... Euro 60..
then called UK people... same, booked overnight return... £40....
Beat them at their own game, i say
www.eurotunnel.com or .co.uk
numbers for UK and French side booking offices are there
Enjoy!
I booked Seafrance.com and got a return ticket three days before Lemans it include two bottles of wine free and a 20 Euro fuel voucher for France
See thread

Sometimes they all take the p*"55 and the internet gives you a decent choice at last.

I've heard that's the best way to do it

I get vouchers which can be used for upto five people crossing for a stay of upto 5 days... though it is going to france and coming back to england, not the other way around. These give you free travel, but is only for foot passengers, though they give you much reduced rates for taking a car... not sure if that is any good to you, mail me if you want more details.. i also get the same vouchers for free trips to ireland...

I thought that used to work, but now if you don;t take the return trip the automatically charge your credit card?

Had the same last November for BTAP, I found the best way was to book with my travel agents, they play with all the various offers, and instead of the £350 for ONEWAY through the tunnel I got a hovercraft for €150,- and threw away the other part. The ferries own websites are usually just a rip-off and don't offer a decent price from the Continent to GB.

Have actually travelled doing this yet? If you havn't you may well have a little surprise coming. Someone I know at Eurotunnel told me what happens when you try this.

Yeah they put it on your card. Best bet does sound like doing it across two companies so ferry over and Euro* back. You can then just say you broke down and got teh car towed back
I'm just trying to get a cheap price for lemans and the week preceding it so need 7 days away or whatever. 350 quid is taking the piss though
