Seen on the A34 Northbound near Newbury yesterday afternoon. What looked like a typical 'Pickey Pickup' towing a trailer. On the Trailer, a bright red Enzo Ferrari. No covers, nothing.

Not a proper car transporter, no protection etc. For a car worth what, £400k?

Looked like it had been thieved.

Anyone lost one?

Sorry no pictures or registraition details, it was going the 'other way'....

Broken down? Being moved between garages?

Could be anything TBH, but I can't see anyone nicking a car so easily traceable.

You sure it isn't a repo?

Didn't pay for his driveway so they dug it up and took everything that was on it.

if it was knoackered you'd use a proper recovery truck? No?

If it was 'posh garage stock' you'd use a proper car transporter service or a covered car trailer? Wouldnt you?

Think of a pickey tarmacers picup wagon, towinging a flatbed with an Enzo plonked on it.

Looked very wrong.

I would....but a luxury car dealer? Not so sure. A trailer is a trailer after all, I'm not sure what difference it makes.

In 10 Pence Short's post about travellers invading his village, it was remarked in there that they own (via criminal or at least tax dodging means) some pretty tasty motors, like McLaren SLRs and the like. Another story on here was about a traveller dad paying out £100,000 for his daughter's wedding. It is quite conceivable, then, that it was indeed Mr Pikey and family taking their Enzo to another muddy field to spread misery.

Cars are generally driven outdoors - I don't think any harm will come to it if it's exposed to the elements during transportation.

In '92 I spent 2 weeks in Europe with a few friends in a 10 year old motor home with a similar vintage Ifor Williams open trailer lugging a DB4GT Zagato around...

Not directly on topic but I had a similar experience in our sleepy Suffolk town, on the bike, pulled up to a roundabout then noticed I was behind a rather stunning immaculate E type, bright red, hood down, glorious it was in the sunshine. Driver and passenger were two chavs, caps on back to front, huge gold chains, early twenty's etc, the passenger stood up and turned round making a wheelie type gesture at me and then shouted at the driver who floored it and dumped the clutch attempting to "slide" the poor old girl around the roundabout from his stationary position, he didnt get too far, seemed not to have the benefit of an LSD, so dipped the clutch again and screamed her poor ladys engine once more before dumping the clutch at walking speed and spinning 180 degrees in the middle of dual carriage way in a cloud of vintage smoke.
Now he's facing me and hasnt caught the clutch in time, so he's heading straight for me, with a panic in his eye. I have had time to stop, select neutral, sit up right and make a Kenco sign with my right hand before he gains control and performs a seven point turn blocking the traffic so as to get back in the correct direction. He then tries to flag me down for a fight and the passenger throws a beer can at me. Stella it was, and half full so he must have been flush with cash from his Giro.

But surely stolen, no-one would treat beautiful old lady like that if it were there own. I called the local plod shop when I got home. Think Hot Fuzz here. Not for the driving although it was criminal, but there is a code and I had spent most of the previous hour on just the one wheel, but to try and help if it was stolen, they said they had no reports of it and thanked me for disturbing their tea break.
Sacralidge! (spelling)
